An upset last weekend paves the way for a new #1 team in 3A girls basketball this week.

Star Valley got 15 of the 23 #1 votes in this week’s coaches and media girls rankings. They push Douglas, who lost for the first time this season a week ago, down to second with 6 top ballots. Wheatland and Torrington switch places at 3-4. They meet each other in Wheatland Saturday. Cody ranks fifth.

After the middle teams in 4A beat each other last week, there isn’t a whole lot of change. After a unanimous choice in Natrona at the top, its Gillette, Laramie and Sheridan. Rock Springs remains fifth. The Lady Tigers visit the #1 Fillies Saturday.

2A keeps Lovell on top with all 19 top votes. The rest of the poll is the same as a week ago with Tongue River and Pine Bluffs, 2 and 3,  Shoshoni and Thermopolis are 4th and 5th.

1A has Snake River a unanimous choice for #1. They are followed by Burlington, Cokeville, Kaycee and Guernsey. There are no ranked games in 2A or 1A this weekend. Interclass, though, has #5 2A Thermop at #2 1A Burlington on Friday.
