One of the stars in girls' track and field in Wyoming is Taliah Morris from Cheyenne East who excels in the long jump and the sprint races. At the Basin Nation Indoor Track Meet in Gillette on Friday, Morris unleashed a long jump of 19 feet 3 and a quarter inches to win the event and at the 2023 State Indoor Meet, Morris went 19-2 to establish a new indoor state record. She's been very successful on the indoor circuit and posted the best prelim time in the 55-meter dash in Gillette last week with a clocking of 7.24 but did not compete in the finals. Morris had a tremendous 2023 State Indoor meet with gold medals in the 55-meter dash and the 200.

Morris has been fabulous in outdoor track as she set the 4A state record in the long jump back in May at 19 feet 8 and a half inches. In fact. she has won the 4A Outdoor Long Jump 3 years in a row going 18-11 in her sophomore season and 19-1 in her freshman year.

Morris will be taking her skills to the University of Wyoming in the fall and we had a chance to chat with her in Gillette about that indoor meet and the journey moving forward
