Three Big Changes in the Latest WyoPreps Girls Basketball Rankings
The new WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media Girls Basketball Poll has five teams atop the rankings with a tie in Class 2A.
Three of the four classifications have at least one change in the latest rankings, and there are two new teams in the poll.
Thunder Basin, Douglas, and Cokeville sit at No.1. Moorcroft is also still there, but they now share the top spot in 2A with Rocky Mountain.
The Wolves and Grizzlies got the same amount of first-place, second-place, and third-place votes to tie for No. 1. Behind those two, Wyoming Indian moves into third. Shoshoni falls one spot to fourth, while Sundance jumps back in at No. 5. The Bulldogs appear in the poll for the first time since the second rankings back in December.
Class 3A features the second-most movement. Douglas is still a unanimous choice for first, while Lyman has a stronger grip on second this week. Lander moves back to third, which pushes Mountain View down to fourth. Worland is back into the rankings in fifth. Pinedale dropped out.
The top three are the same in Class 4A. Thunder Basin is a unanimous pick for No. 1. The Bolts received all 18 first-place votes. Cheyenne East holds second, despite losing to Thunder Basin last weekend. Natrona County remains in third. Cody’s win over Green River last weekend lifts the Fillies to fourth, while the Wolves fall to fifth.
Finally, there are no changes in Class 1A. The top three are received all the votes for their spot in the rankings. Cokeville is first, followed by Upton and Kaycee. H.E.M. and Southeast hold in fourth and fifth, respectively.
