A new No. 1, two new teams to the poll, and movement in three of the four classes headline the new WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media Girls Basketball Poll.

Moorcroft has regained the top spot in 2A girls. They received one less first-place vote, but more second-place votes push the Wolves back to No. 1, where they were for four weeks earlier this season.

Class 2A has the most change, as well. Rocky Mountain drops one spot to second. They earned four first-place votes. Tongue River holds at No. 3. The Shoshoni Lady Blue makes their debut in the girls’ poll. After last week’s win over the Grizzlies, Shoshoni ranks fourth. Finally, after getting the green light on their season, the two-time defending champion Wyoming Indian Chiefs are back in the rankings for the first time since the second poll of the season. They are No. 5 this week.

Classes 3A and 1A have some shuffling in the middle of their rankings.

Douglas remains a unanimous pick for the top position in Class 3A. Lander and Lyman move up in this week’s poll. The Tigers are undefeated on the season and have their highest ranking at No. 2. The Eagles opened conference quadrant action with a pair of wins last weekend. They climb to third. After getting upset on the road last Friday night, the Mountain View Buffalos drop two spots to fourth. Worland holds steady in the No. 5 spot.

Cokeville is still on top in 1A. The Panthers garnered nine of the 11 first-place votes. Upton’s big win at Kaycee pushes the Bobcats up to second and drops the Buckaroos to third. H.E.M. and Southeast remain in fourth and fifth, respectively.

The top five remain the same in Class 4A. Thunder Basin is a unanimous choice with all 23 first-place ballots. Natrona County, Cheyenne East, Cody, and Cheyenne Central hold in the two through five positions.
