One of the premiere battles in 4A over the weekend was Rock Springs playing host to the #1 ranked team in the classification and that was Thunder Basin from Gillette. Rock Springs is a hard-nosed football team and came up with 14 points in the first quarter, starting with a 9-yard TD connection from Seth Hymas to Justis Reese to make it 7-0 Tigers

That was followed by a 2-yard plunge to the end zone by Collin Madsen to it was 14-0 rock springs with thunder basin looking for answers.  The Bolts did get a safety thanks to a blocked punt, so there was some momentum there, but Thunder Basin was behind 14-2 at the halftime intermission.

The Bolts did turn it on the in the 2nd half, Jaxon Pikula who had over 100 yards rushing reeled off a 29 yard run for a touchdown so just like that it was 14-9.

Thunder Basin scored again in the 3rd quarter as quarterback Mason Hamilton tossed a TD pass to Cameron Durgin that covered 11 yards. The 2 point try was good so the Bolts assumed the lead at 17-14.

Tanner Richards of Thunder Basin caught a 41-yard touchdown pass later in the 3rd quarter to bump the lead to 24-14. Richards also had a sharp game on defense the Bolts remain undefeated at 7-0 thanks to a 24-14 win over Rock Springs. Thunder Basin will host Kelly Walsh this week. The Tigers sit at 4-3 with a big road game coming up on Friday at Cheyenne East.
