Wheatland’s Rayne Grant Displays Perseverance at State Rodeo
"Heart of a Champion honors have to go to Rayne Grant who “womaned up” to win pole bending at the state high school finals this weekend in Buffalo. The Wheatland all-around cowgirl competed in several events despite having cracked backbones from a horse accident less than two weeks ago. In addition to being pole bending champ in her last year of high school competition, Grant finished second in barrel racing, 4th in goat tying, 8th in the breakaway roping, and 2nd in the all-around. The national high school finals return to Gillette next month and Grant will be 3 events. She will attend Laramie County Community College in the fall."
