The Lander girls basketball team came into their Thursday night match-up against Worland ranked 2nd in 3A in our WyoPreps.com poll. Worland was ranked 5th but Thursday's match-up was all Lander. The Tigers used a solid defensive effort against the Warriors and considering that Lander isn't the tallest team in the world, they have to be intense on defense every game.

Lander got off to a good start and slowly but surely put the game away in the 2nd half to post a 48-29 win. The Tigers were led by Taline Tendore with 13 while Ryan Bell had 11 and Demi Stauffenberg had 8. This is a well-balanced team that gets something from just about everybody. It was a good weekend for Lander as they also beat Lovell on Saturday to get to 9-0 on the year.

Worland certainly has some size with Darla Hernandez and Denali Jones and they have a dynamic guard in Tymberlynn Crippen. But it was a tough shooting night for all three of those players as Hernandez had 8 points, Jones 6 and Crippen 5, The Warriors did finish the weekend with a win over Rawlins so they're 8-4. There's more than enough talent on this Worland team to be successful, it's just a matter of how everyone in 3A matches up with a talented Douglas team.

We have some video to share with you from Thursday's game in Lander. Enjoy!
