The Wyoming boys basketball All-Star team certainly had their hands full with the Montana All-Stars in their annual get-together over the weekend in Gillette and Billings. On Friday at Gillette College, Wyoming started slowly and fell behind by as many as 17 points in the first half. They did come through with a 2nd half surge to make it close, but lost 102-90. Wyoming also lost the 2nd leg of the series in Billings, 98-73.

Jaxson Neely of Wright had 7 points in that contest in Gillette, and he led 2A in scoring this past season at 22.3 points per game. He had a 39-point game against Shoshoni and a 37-point effort against Wyoming Indian. Neely has been a 2A All-State selection in basketball for the last two years and also had a sharp season in track and field with a 2nd place in the 2A triple jump at the State Outdoor Meet, 3rd in the long jump, 8th in the high jump, and his 4x400 relay team placed 5th.

Another one of the boys All-Stars was Tanner Hagar of Natrona, who averaged 12 points a game for the Mustangs in 2024-25. He had 6 points in the All-Star game in Gillette and threw in a dozen in the contest in Billings. Down the road, he wants to pursue a career in college baseball and is a right-handed pitcher for the Casper Oilers American League baseball team.

We talked to both of those guys after the All-Star game at the Pronghorn Center, and yes, it was a tough night, but put it in the rear-view mirror.
