The teams that have been good, have been rewarded by the Santa Claus-like voters.

Former #1 Kelly Walsh, stumbled twice in Montana last week, so the coaches and media voters, got Grinchy and took their ranking away. East is now the top 4A team, being that they are the only undefeated team in the Class remaining. KW was dropped to #3, heading into the winter break. Once action resumes, there will be a big one right from the get-go, as the Thunderbirds visit the Trojans on Thursday, January 9th. As for the rest of the poll...Gillette, Sheridan and Rock Springs hold at 2, 4, and 5. Kelly Walsh and Sheridan will cross paths in Riverton, right after the East-KW game.

Every 3A ranked team lost at least once last week...and there are now no more undefeated teams. Most of the action occurred in Douglas, and since the top 5 teams beat each other in some shape or form...the latest rankings did not change much. Cody and Lander remain #1 and #2. Douglas jumped over Rawlins for #3. The Bearcats beat and lost to a team ranked above them, where as the Outlaws won 2 games, but none of them were vs. ranked opponents. Wheatland is finally getting some credit, because they've actually beaten the #1 ranked team twice this season. The Bulldogs beat then #1 Powell on opening weekend, and then beat now #1 Cody, last week.

The 2A ranks feature Wyoming Indian...and then everyone else heading into the winter break. The Chiefs are the unanimous #1, and are preparing for the Fremont County shootout. Greybull, Lusk and Moorcroft, hold their spots at 2, 3 and 4. Former #5 Saratoga, was knocked out of the rankings, after picking up loss #1 last week...so Rocky Mountain will take their place at #5.

Burlington remains top dog of the 1A rankings...but a couple of teams are working their way up. The Huskies did lose their first game last week, but that was against a 3A team. The voters probably did not hold that against, since a few days prior to that, Burlington took apart #2 2A Greybull. A big rematch is on the schedule, Saturday January 10th at Greybull. Guernsey and Upton are starting to get some attention. The voters put the Vikings at #2 and the Bobcats at #3. Dubois moves up a spot to #4 by one vote ahead of 3-time defending state Little Snake River, who slips to #5.

Because most teams are off during the 2-week winter break, poll activity will be suspended until all teams are back in action. The next rankings won't come out until Wednesday January 15, 2014.
