The 2023 indoor track season in Wyoming is at Week 6. Teams and individuals are either at a prestigious national meet or on a competition hiatus.

The 43rd Simplot Games draw some of the top competitors from around the country to Pocatello, ID. This is the first time since 2020 that the meet has been held.

There is a regional indoor track meet with one team from Wyoming attending in Colorado Springs.

This is the schedule for the sixth weekend of indoor track. Schedules are subject to change.

Thursday, Feb. 16:

Simplot Games in Holt Arena at Idaho State University: Track Events start at 4:30 p.m. & Field Events begin at 5 p.m. – only finals in the Girls & Boys Weight Throw.

Teams Attending: Big Horn, Buffalo, Campbell County, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cody, Douglas, Evanston, Green River, Kelly Walsh, Lander, Laramie, Lovell, Mountain View, Natrona County, Pinedale, Rawlins, Riverton, Rock Springs, Sheridan, Star Valley, Thunder Basin, Tongue River, Torrington.

Thunder Basin's Jalyn Shepard was 8th and Laramie's Alex Lewis was 9th in the Girls' Weight Throw final. Green River's Trysten Halter was 9th in the Boys' Weight Throw final.

Prelim Results

Lander's Gage Gose was 2nd in the 60-meter hurdle prelims at 8.17 seconds. Mason Weickum of Natrona County took 8th in the same event. Eva Nitschke of Rawlins took 4th in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.05 seconds. Star Valley's Ava Morgan was 9th in the same event.

Madison Antonino of Pinedale was 3rd in the 3200 meters.

Jackson Dutcher of Natrona County was 5th in the 1600 meters. Sheridan's Austin Akers was 12th, and Central's Bridger Brokaw was 17th. Mountain View's Owen Burnett finished 8th, Riverton's Kaden Chatfield was 12th, and Natrona's Tristan Enders was 13th in the 3200-meters.

Central's Sydney Morrell was the top qualifier in the 1600 meters at 5:05.13. Rawlins' Ryann Smith also took 4th in the prelim.

In the freshman 1600, NC's Cierra Daniels, Mya Fraser of Campbell County, and Star Valley's Gracey Visser made the final. On the boys' side, Race Morrell of Central and Lucas Steveson of East made the final.

Friday, Feb. 17:

Simplot Games in Holt Arena at Idaho State University: Track Events start at 8:35 a.m. & Field Events begin at 9 a.m. – no Finals; only preliminary or qualifying events on this day.

Teams Attending: Big Horn, Buffalo, Campbell County, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cody, Douglas, Evanston, Green River, Kelly Walsh, Lander, Laramie, Lovell, Mountain View, Natrona County, Pinedale, Rawlins, Riverton, Rock Springs, Sheridan, Star Valley, Thunder Basin, Tongue River, Torrington.

Prelim Results

Sheridan's Addie Pendergast was the top qualifier in the 400 meters at 57.74 seconds. Ella Spear of NC was 5th, and Kaly Flores of Central was 7th. Star Valley's Valerie Jirak was 11th in the 200 meters. Cody's Ava Nelson was 3rd in the 800 meters.

In relays, NC was 6th in the 4x200; NC was 5th, East 9th, & Central 10th in the girls' sprint medley. Central also made the finals in the 4x400-meter relay.

The following athletes qualified for finals in these field events: Aubry Dewine (Campbell County), Taliah Morris (East), & Valerie Jirak (SV) in the long jump; Lilly Charest (Sheridan), Reese Dorr (Campbell County), & Brinkley Lewis (Central) in the pole vault; Autumn Ostrander (NC), Harper Boches (Torrington), Nora Butler (Sheridan), Jalyn Shepherd (Thunder Basin), Jose Ankney (Sheridan) in the shot put; Valerie Jirak (SV) in the high jump; Makenzie Bradach (NC) in the triple jump.

Colby Jenks of Pinedale was 2nd in the qualifying of the 800 meters. Torrington's Brendan Flock and East's Jude Guevara were in the top 10 of the 200 meters. Slade Hopkins (Torrington) and Gabe Hutchison (Evanston) were 3rd and 6th in the 400 meters.

In the boys' relays, Evanston was 7th in the 4x200. Evanston was 4th, Sheridan 5th, & Thunder Basin 9th in the 4x400. Sheridan was 3rd & 8th and Laramie was 9th in the sprint medley.

These boys qualified for the finals in these field events: Kaiden Lee (NC) & Chris Tomlinson (NC) in the high jump; Lee (NC), Seth Wilson (NC), & Richard Prescott (Central) in the long jump; Brayden Ballard (Campbell County), Wyatt Powell (NC), Auggie Lain (Central), & Tyler Bennick (Torrington) in the shot put; Kavin Hoff (NC), Adrien Calderon (Laramie), & Maddix Holmes (RS) in the pole vault; Prescott (Central) in the triple jump.

Saturday, Feb. 18:

Simplot Games in Holt Arena at Idaho State University: Track Events & Field Events Start at 8:30 a.m. – Event Finals all day.
