It’s time for the high school outdoor track and field season to start across Wyoming. That means cold, wind, and snow, right?

That’s what we’ve had around the state as the first meets of the season are upon us.

At least two meets scheduled for Thursday in Sheridan and Friday in Cody got canceled due to winter impacts on the facility.

One in-state event is still on as of now. That is in Casper. A handful of teams are heading out of state, while several schools are not competing this weekend.

FRIDAY, MARCH 17:

Yellowstone Sports Medicine Invite at Cody HS – Canceled

Out-of-State events:

2023 Early Bird Invitational at Mountain View HS in Orem, UT – Big Piney, Green River

Rifle HS Invitational in Rifle, CO - Little Snake River

Kannadis Peroulis took 3rd in the triple jump. David Hernandez and Regina Herrera were 4th and 5th in the shot put, respectively.

SATURDAY, MARCH 18:

Glen Legler Early Bird at Natrona County HS – Canceled

Out-of-State events:

2023 Early Bird Invitational at Mountain View HS in Orem, UT – Big Piney, Green River

CSC High School Open at Chadron State College in Chadron, NE – Southeast

Southeast got wins from Shelby Ekwall in the shot put, and Dawson Mullock in the high jump, plus several other top-5 finishes.

Golden Eagle Invitational at Frederick HS in Frederick, CO – Cheyenne South

South's Rachel Hedum won the 300-hurdles, Trey Downham won the high jump, and the Bison won two relays on the boys' side.

Murray Kula Invitational at Windsor HS in Windsor, CO – Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Western Heritage Lutheran Academy

Cheyenne Central won the girls' and boys' divisions. Sydney Morrell won the 800 & 1600 meters. Madisyn Baillie won the high jump. Karson Tempel won the triple jump. Hadyn Fleming and Auggie Lain went 1-2 in the shot put.

East took 6th in the girls' division and 12th in the boys.' Taliah Morris won the 100 meters and long jump. The East girls won the 4x800 relay. Jude Guevara won the 100 meters for the boys.
