Wyoming High School Outdoor Track Scoreboard: May 3-7, 2022
It’s time for the final tune-up before the post-season of the outdoor track season arrives.
Week 8 of the high school track season means regional meets are next week, and the state championships are two weeks away.
The week starts with a couple of JV meets and a small dual. Cody, Gillette, Jackson, Lander, Mountain View, Pine Bluffs, Sundance, Thermopolis, and Torrington are set to host track meets.
A few teams and some select individuals are also competing at a big meet in Provo, UT.
Here is the schedule, which is subject to change.
TUESDAY, MAY 3:
Camel JV Meet at Campbell County HS in Gillette – Buffalo, Campbell County, Douglas, Kelly Walsh, Natrona County, Newcastle, Sheridan, Thunder Basin, Lead-Deadwood (SD), Rapid City Central (SD), Rapid City Stevens (SD), Spearfish (SD), Sturgis (SD)
Central Freshman-Sophomore at Cheyenne Central HS – Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Laramie
Puncher Dual at Big Piney HS – Big Piney, Farson-Eden
Big Piney's depth helps the Punchers dominate on their home track. Pronghorns held their own with several wins in events.
THURSDAY, MAY 5:
Cody Trackstravaganza at Cody HS – Cody, Green River, Powell, Sheridan, St. Stephens, Worland
Powell's Waycee Harvey won the 200 meters and long jump. Cody's Luke Talich won the 100 & 200 meters. Sheridan swept all 4 boys' relays.
Jeff Hereford Invitational at Mountain View HS – Big Piney, Evanston, Lyman, Mountain View
Mountain View girls and Evanston boys dominated en route to the team titles.
Pine Bluffs Field Event Extravaganza at Pine Bluffs HS – Burns, Glenrock, Guernsey-Sunrise, Pine Bluffs, Torrington, Wheatland
Torrington's Tyler Bennick was the lone double-event winner, as he won the boys' shot put and discus titles.
FRIDAY, MAY 6:
Bobcat Invitational at Thermopolis HS – Big Piney, Burlington, Dubois, Farson-Eden, Greybull, Kemmerer, Little Snake River, Lovell, Rawlins, Riverside, Shoshoni, Thermopolis, Wind River, Wyoming Indian
Powell swept the team crowns.
Girls: Riverside's Vaidyn Vanderploeg won both sprint events. Eva Nitschke won both hurdle races.
Boys: Burlington's Clayton Edwards won the 2 sprint races. Big Piney's Hunter Fisher won both hurdle races.
Bulldog Invite at Sundance HS – Arvada-Clearmont, Big Horn, Hulett, Kaycee, Midwest, Moorcroft, Newcastle, Sundance, Thunder Basin JV, Upton, Wright, Harding County (SD)
Kaycee's Karcee Maya won the 200 meters, 300 hurdles, and long jump. Moorcroft's Mallory Jones captured both distance races for the girls. Upton's Luca Brooks won the 100 & 200 meters, plus the long jump & triple jump.
Camel Qualifier at Campbell County HS in Gillette – Big Horn, Buffalo, Campbell County, Douglas, Kelly Walsh, Natrona County, Sheridan, Thunder Basin, Tongue River, Rapid City Christian (HS)
Kelly Walsh senior Cam Burkett exceeded the state record in the shot put of 64-9!
The NC girls and KW boys won the team titles.
Girls: Addie Pendergast of Sheridan won the 200 & 400 meters. Thunder Basin swept all 4 relays. Alesha Lane of NC won both throws.
Lynn Williams Memorial at Jackson Hole HS – Jackson, Pinedale, Rock Springs, Star Valley, Teton (Driggs, ID)
The Pinedale girls and Star Valley boys won the team crowns.
Girls: Katy Dexter of Pinedale swept the throwing events.
Boys: Rock Springs' Colton Carlsen won both throwing events.
Wiseman Invite at Torrington HS – Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Chugwater, Encampment, Glendo, Guernsey-Sunrise, Laramie, Lusk, Rock River, Torrington, Wheatland
Cheyenne Central swept the team titles.
Girls: East's Taliah Morris won the 100 & 200 meters. Central's Madisyn Baillie won the 100 hurdles and high jump.
Boys: Richard Prescott from Central won both hurdle races and the triple jump. East's Marik Cummings finished 1st in the 100 & 200 meters. Wheatland's Rodee Brow won the 400 meters and pole vault.
Out-of-State events:
2022 Mr. Mac/BYU Invitational at Provo, UT – Cheyenne Central, Cokeville, Evanston, Jackson, Lovell, Lyman, Mountain View, Newcastle, Pinedale, Star Valley
In the 1A-3A division: Lovell's Quinn Lindsay won the shot put (59-6.25) and discus (183-3.25). Shelyse Ellingford from Evanston won the pole vault (11-2), while Mountain View's Mylie Micheli took 2nd. Evanston's Stacia Barker won the high jump (5-4).
Lovell is 2nd in the boy's standings, while Mountain View and Evanston are 2nd and 3rd in the girl's standings.
SATURDAY, MAY 7:
Shane Brock Invitational at Lander Valley HS – Dubois, Kemmerer, Lander Valley, Little Snake River, Pinedale, Riverton, St. Stephens, Western Heritage Lutheran Academy
The Lander girls and Riverton boys came away with the team crowns.
Girls: Lander's Ameya Eddy won the 800 & 1600 meters on her home track. Teammate Abigail Gribowskas won the 200 & 400 meters.
Boys: Tristan Watkins of Riverton won the 2 short sprint races. Kemmerer's Owen Burnett won the 1600 & 3200 meters. LSR's Kannadis Peroulis won the long & triple jumps.
SEWAC Meet 2022 at Pine Bluffs HS – Glenrock, Lingle-Ft. Laramie, Lusk, Pine Bluffs, Southeast
The Pine Bluffs girls and Lingle-Ft. Laramie boys won the team titles.
Girls: Alexis Depaulitte from Pine Bluffs won the 800 & 1600 meters. Lusk's Melody ZumBrunnen won the 200 meters & long jump.
Boys: Southeast's Ryan Clapper won the 100 & 200 meters. Lingle's Kyland Fuller won the 400 & 800 meters. Teammate Myles Wilson won the 2 distance races. Carson Rabou from Pine Bluffs won the 110 hurdles & pole vault. Teammate Reed Thompson won the long & triple jumps.
Out-of-State events:
2022 Mr. Mac/BYU Invitational at Provo, UT – Cheyenne Central, Cokeville, Evanston, Jackson, Lovell, Lyman, Mountain View, Newcastle, Pinedale, Star Valley
Evanston boys won the 1A-3A division. Lovell tied for 6th in the same division. Mountain View took 4th in the 1A-3A girls' division.
Individually on Saturday, Evanston's Gabe Hutchinson won the 200 meters. Kai Barker captured the high jump. Mountain View's Connor Micheli won the boys' pole vault. Jackson's Kate Brigham won the 1600 meters in the 1A-3A division. Lyman's Kendyll Dickerson won the discus.
