Wyoming High School Skiing Scoreboard: Jan. 13-14, 2023
It’s a Nordic-only weekend for skiers at the Wyoming High School level.
This will be the fourth weekend of cross-country skiing while downhillers take the week off.
It’s off to Fremont County for Lander Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Nordic competitors will be racing at the Beaver Creek Nordic Ski Area southwest of Lander.
This weekend includes a USSA Sanctioned NRL and WHSAA event.
Friday features a 5km freestyle race. It starts at noon with the Female U16-U20 USSA NRL race, followed by the male U16-U20 race, and then the two high school divisions. It features interval starts with one skier starting every 15 seconds.
Cody's Elisa Wachob won the girls' high school varsity division race. Her time was 19:18.22. Eleanor Veauthier of Kelly Walsh placed second. Sadie Wachob from Cody ended up third.
Kalel Brubaker of NC won the high school division boys' varsity race at a time of 16:03.93. Lucas Wilmot of Jackson was second, and Mack White from Lander was third.
Saturday will be a 5km classic race. All the racing starts at 10 a.m. with the USSA NRL races, followed by the two high school races. This race also has interval starts.
Eleanor Veauthier of Kelly Walsh won the girls' division at a time of 20:24.16. Cody's Elisa Wachob and Sadie Wachob took second and third, respectively.
In the boys' race, Lucas Wilmot of Jackson crossed the finish line first at a time of 16:15.05. Kalel Brubaker of Natrona County was second, and Colton Petsch from Jackson came in third.
Girls Team Scores: Lander 216, Jackson 206, Kelly Walsh 166, Laramie, 97, Cody 89, Natrona County 61, Sheridan 40, Pinedale 22.
Boys Team Scores: Jackson 232, Lander 209, Kelly Walsh 178, Laramie 171, Natrona County 110, Sheridan 27, Cody 3, Pinedale 0.
The schools competing this weekend are Cody, Jackson, Kelly Walsh Lander, Laramie, Natrona County, Pinedale, and Sheridan.
They return to competition next weekend with the first of two races on Casper Mountain at Hogadon Basin Ski Area on Jan. 19 and 20, 2023.
