Wyoming High School Skiing Scoreboard: Jan. 19-20, 2023
The focus shifts to the downhill skiers on this week’s schedule.
Alpine skiers are in Casper for two days.
Cross-country skiers have their first weekend off from Wyoming High School competition, outside of the holiday break.
Alpine Skiing
Casper Mountain is the destination for alpine skiers with the two-day KWHS Bruce Studer Invitational races.
This is a Thursday-Friday event, instead of Friday and Saturday at Hogadon Basin Ski Area.
The giant slalom or GS race is Thursday on 'Boomerang' run. It starts at 3:15 p.m. The later start also means some night skiing conditions.
Thursday Results
Taylor Smith won the girls' GS with a 2-run combined time of 1:08.22. She led a 1-5 sweep for Jackson.
Travis D'Amours led a 1-4 finish for Jackson with the win in the boys' division. His 2-run combined time was 1:05.14.
Jackson leads the team standings with 80 in the girls' division and 78 points in the boys' division.
Friday will be the slalom competition on 'Boomerang' run. The start time is set for 10:15 a.m.
Friday Results
Taylor Smith completed the sweep of the weekend with a win in the slalom. Her 2-run combined time was 1:30.63. Jackson had the top four finishers.
Travis D'Amours also swept the boys' division. He won the slalom at 1:25.89. Jackson had the top three finishers and four of the top five.
Final Girls Team Scores: Jackson 159, Natrona County 71, Cody 55, Kelly Walsh 30, Laramie 19, Pinedale 8.
Final Boys Team Scores: Jackson 143, Natrona County 85, Pinedale 39, Cody 34, Laramie 25, Kelly Walsh 16.

Nordic Skiing
After skiing the first two weekends of the season in December, and the first two weekends of this month, Nordic competitors do not have a high school race this week. They return to action next weekend at Casper.
