After cold weather conditions altered last weekend’s schedule, the skiing weekend is a little busier as the season winds down.

Nordic Skiing

Instead of a weekend off before the state championships for four teams, they will be skiing west of Cody.

The Cody High School Invitational will happen on Friday, Feb. 19, and Saturday, Feb. 20, at Pahaska Teepee, west of Cody.

The Cody/Sheridan team will host Kelly Walsh, Laramie, and Natrona County for racing.

Friday’s event is a 10 km skate or freestyle race. The varsity boys start at 1 p.m., followed by the varsity girls. Saturday’s schedule features a 5 km classic race. The girls will take to the trails first and start at 10 a.m., while the boys will follow.

Results will be posted in this story after the meet.

The state championships for cross country skiers will be next weekend in Casper.

Alpine Skiing

The downhill skiers will compete at White Pine Ski Area outside of Pinedale, WY, in the Wind River Mountain Range for the Pinedale Invitational.

Both days of racing will utilize the ‘Wind River’ run. Friday, Feb. 19, is giant slalom racing with a start time of 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, will be slalom racing starting at 10 a.m. There will be a one-hour break in-between the two runs of skiing each day.

The final regular-season event is the re-scheduled race from last week for Feb. 25 and 26 at Hogadon Basin Ski Area on Casper Mountain.

Results will be posted once they are received by WyoPreps.
