WyoPreps Athlete of the Week Honors Go to Fish, Forry, and Wheeler
The WyoPreps Athlete of the Week awards are presented by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Wyoming. The first recipients of the winter sports season were selected. Natrona County Nordic skier Ally Wheeler and Laramie basketball player Addie Forry shared the girls’ honor. The boys’ award went to Lingle-Ft. Laramie/Southeast wrestler Nathan Fish.
Fish opened his 2023-24 wrestling season with a pair of titles at two different wrestling tournaments. Fish on the 126-pound bracket at the Tiger Invitational last Friday in Lusk. He went 3-0 and won all three matches by fall. Fish’s performance helped Lingle-Ft. Laramie/Southeast capture the team championship in the boys’ division.
He followed that with a title at 120 pounds at the Charlie Lake Invitational in Cheyenne last Saturday. Fish was 4-0 with three wins by fall and one decision. He helped his team take ninth place against many larger schools in the field.
WyoPreps spoke to Nathan about his successful start to the season, what he felt led to the great weekend, what he’s been focusing on in training, how he’s developed his style and technique in his high school career, and more.

Forry helped Laramie to a 3-0 start to the prep girls’ basketball season. She averaged 27 points per game, shot 55 percent from the field, and passed 1,000 points in her career. Forry set a school record with 41 points last Saturday in an 87-51 victory over Green River. The senior added five rebounds, 4.7 steals, and 2.7 assists per game.
WyoPreps caught up with Forry in Laramie. She didn’t even know she had scored 41 points, wasn’t aware of the record, and was prouder of the way her team played.
Also sharing the girls’ honor was Natrona County junior Ally Wheeler. She dominated the two races at the Lander Invite to start the high school Nordic skiing season. Wheeler won last Friday’s 4km classic race by 40 seconds. She followed that with a victory by 1:35 in last Saturday’s 6km freestyle race at Lander.
WyoPreps has added our video interview with Ally Wheeler above.
The WyoPreps Athlete of the Week nominations are open from Fridays at 5 p.m. until Mondays at 9 a.m. Coaches, family, friends, and student-athletes can nominate deserving student-athletes. Early and late nominations are not accepted.
