The new WyoPreps Coaches and Media Football Poll features a pair of new No. 1 ranked teams as we prepare for Week 2 of the 2022 season.

Class 1A-9 Man and Class 2A have new teams at the top. There are also two new teams in the rankings and changes in all five classifications.

In the 9-man division, the Pine Bluffs Hornets take over the top position. They received 17 of the 19 first-place votes after their win at previous No. 1 Shoshoni last Thursday. Rocky Mountain also moved up one spot to second. The Grizzlies earned a first-place vote, but it was more third-place votes that pushed them past the Wranglers by six points. Shoshoni fell to third in the new poll. Wind River also got a first-place vote, but the Cougars remained fourth. Lingle-Ft. Laramie stayed in the fifth spot.

The Lovell Bulldogs moved up to No. 1 in Class 2A. The Bulldogs are coming off a hard-fought 7-point road win at Big Horn last Friday night. The Lyman Eagles’ first loss after a 20-game win streak dropped them to second. Cokeville and Tongue River held in third and fourth, respectively. There’s a new team that entered the poll this week, Mountain View. The Buffalos debut in fifth.

Class 3A also had big changes with two new teams in the top five. The Cody Broncs held onto first with all but one first-place vote. The two-time defending champs are the heavy favorites in 2022. Star Valley held at No. 2 and garnered a first-place vote. Worland’s big win over Powell last Friday night swayed enough voters that the Warriors debut in third. Jackson’s victory over Douglas pushed the Broncs into the top five for the first time this season. They debut at No. 4. Buffalo held in the five spot, though the Bison are only three points behind the Broncs.

Little Snake River is the only unanimous No. 1-ranked team. The Rattlers top Class 1A-6 Man with all 14 first-place votes. The defending champs had a 48-0 road win in Week 1. There is no tie for second or fifth this week. Dubois edged Encampment for second. One more second and third-place vote helped the Rams secure second. The Tigers are just 15 points behind in the third position. Burlington moved to fourth, while Farson-Eden is alone in fifth. Meeteetse dropped from the top five.

The one change in Class 4A saw two teams trade spots. Cheyenne East remained No. 1. The Thunderbirds got 16 of the 19-first place votes. The Sheridan Broncs earned the other three first-place votes and stayed second in the new poll. Thunder Basin moved up one spot to third, which pushed Natrona County down to fourth. Rock Springs rounded out the top five.
