Lauren Olsen of Douglas Rolls Past 2,000 Career Points
Douglas standout Lauren Olsen continues to surpass milestones on the basketball court. Last month at the Lander Classic, Olsen became the fourth player in state history to surpass 2,000 career points in girls’ basketball. She accomplished the feat in a game against Lovell, where Lauren scored 30 points and shot 54 percent from the field in a 72-28 victory.
Olsen burst onto the scene as a freshman in the 2021-22 season. She averaged 23.3 points per game and shot 51 percent from the floor. Olsen helped the Bearcats to a 25-3 record and the Class 3A state championship. Lauren averaged 21.1 points per game and shot 46 percent from the field in her sophomore year (2022-23). Once again, she led Douglas to the 3A state title and a 27-2 record. As a junior last season, Olsen scored 23.5 points per game, shot 49 percent from the floor, and led the Bearcats to a perfect season at 27-0 and the Class 3A championship. It was Douglas’ sixth consecutive state championship.
So far in the 2024-25 season, Olsen has led the Bearcats to a 7-0 start, the No. 1 rankings in our WyoPreps Coaches and Media Girls Basketball Poll, and is averaging 25.6 points per game. Before her senior year, Lauren signed to play at the next level with Cal Baptist.
Olsen joins Lander’s Tahnee Robinson (2303), Lyman’s McKinley Bradshaw – now Dickerson (2098), and Riverton’s Kristen Newlin (2007) as the only girls’ players in state history with over 2,000 points in their prep career. Lauren has a chance to set the state’s all-time scoring record later this season.
Congratulations on 2,000 points and counting, Lauren Olsen!
