Cheyenne Central's Matt Pietsch will continue his swimming career at the Division II level as he'll attend Augustana in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Pietsch was an all-state performer last season as a junior, taking 2nd at the State Meet in the 100 backstroke in 54.42. He finished 2nd to Braden Lougee of Kelly Walsh in that event. Pietsch also took 5th in the 100 fly at the state meet, tapping the wall in 53.22

In his sophomore season, he took 4th place in the 500 freestyle and 11th in his freshman so the needle is definitely pointing in the right direction.

Over the weekend, the Central swim competed in a triangular with Cheyenne East and Cheyenne South. Pietsch won two events, the 100 breaststroke in 1.11.14 and the 200 Individual Medley in 1.08.07. He also was on the winning 200 free relay in 1.48.25.

Augustana competes in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the league's championship meet will be the first week of February.
