The ladies from Cheyenne East once again had a fabulous season with a record of 27-3. This was an extremely functional group with a couple of dynamic players in Ky Buell and Madison Blaney. Both were all-state selections averaging 16 points and 10 points a game respectively. Both were juniors this past season so East should be very, very good next season.  The road in the state tournament wasn't exactly easy as they had to scratch and claw to beat Kelly Walsh in the opening round 44-42. East was outscored in the 4th quarter 15-6 but held on. Buell had 16 and Blaney chipped in 8. The T-Birds had to scratch and claw their way to a 4A semi-final round win over Gillette 68-62. Buell had a solid performance with 22; Blaney had 12. East shot a remarkable 52% from the field in the contest. In the 4A title game, East fell behind by as many as 14 and lost to Thunder Basin 70-58. The T-Birds struggled at the free-throw line, going 5-13. Kalee McEwen had 19 to the lead the Thunderbirds with Buell chipping in 14 with Blaney getting a dozen. This program certainly will have enough talent to compete for a 4A state championship in 2019-20
