1A 6-Man Football Championship Preview: #1 Little Snake River vs. #2 Burlington [VIDEO]
The first championship game on Saturday is in the Class 1A-6 Man division between No. 1 Little Snake River and defending champion and second-ranked Burlington in Laramie. These two are squaring off for the third year in a row. The Rattlers and Huskies played in last year’s title game, and Burlington held on for a 42-39 victory. Snake River rolled to a 55-8 win over the Huskies two years ago. This one is the rubber match.

These two schools were conference foes until 6-man switched to North and South Conferences before the 2022 season. They did play in Week One of the 2024 regular season, and the Rattlers dominated in a 70-18 victory in Baggs. Saturday will be the third postseason game between the two programs.
Before the game, WyoPreps visited with both head coaches, Snake River’s Jack Cobb and Burlington’s Trent Aagard.
Team Info & Series History:
Burlington (8-1) – Trent Aagard: 9th year as head coach; 3 state championships in school history; those came in 1992, 1994, and 2023. The first two were 9-man titles. The Huskies won their first 6-man championship last year. Burlington is making its seventh appearance in a title game. The Huskies are 3-3 in their previous championship games. They have made three previous trips to Laramie in 2018, 2022, and 2023. Burlington is 1-2 in those games.
Little Snake River (9-0) – Jack Cobb: 8th year as head coach; 5 state championships in school history; their last title was in 2022 (55-8 over Burlington). The Rattlers are making their eighth appearance in a championship game, all of which have been in Laramie. They are 5-2 in previous title games in the Gem City.
Little Snake River leads the all-time series, 7-2. They first played each other in a varsity game in 2016. The Rattlers won the first meeting in overtime. Burlington won the second game in the series. Then, Little Snake River won five straight before last year’s championship game. The Rattlers earned a win earlier this season in Week 1. It is the third straight meeting in Laramie.
