The Wyoming Indian Lady Chiefs are the 2021 Class 2A state basketball champions. They beat the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies, 44-29, on Saturday night in Casper.

This is the Lady Chiefs' third straight state basketball championship and the school's fifth all-time.

Wyoming Indian jumped out to a 10-4 lead early in the first quarter. A few players for the team got into some early foul trouble but it did not seem to hinder the team.

The Lady Chiefs started the second quarter quick on a 7-0 run. The score at halftime was 24-14 favoring the Lady Chiefs.

Wyoming Indian was in control for all of the second half. The team held a 15-point lead for their biggest lead.

The Lady Chiefs shot 42.1% from the field. The Grizzlies shot 26.2% from the field. Wyoming Indian won the rebounding battle 33-25.

Sandie Friday put together a strong performance by achieving a double-double. Friday had 16 points, 11 rebounds, and four steals for the Lady Chiefs. Angela Astorga added 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Jaden Ferris also had 10 points for the Lady Chiefs.

The leading scorer for Rocky Mountain was Victoria Arnold who had eight points in the loss.
