There’s very little movement in the latest WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media Boys Basketball Poll released on Wednesday. These are the final rankings for 1A and 2A.

The two lower classes begin postseason action this weekend with their regional tournaments in Douglas, Lander, Riverton, and Torrington. Both classifications are the same as a week ago.

In 2A, Wyoming Indian remains No. 1. The Chiefs received seven of the 11 first-place votes. Rocky Mountain got the other four and holds in second. Those two are top seeds from their respective conferences at the 2A West Regional tournament in Riverton. Three teams in the eastern half of the state round out the top five. Pine Bluffs is ranked third but only six points in front of Sundance. The Hornets and Bulldogs are top seeds at the 2A East Regional in Torrington. Sundance won a coin flip for the No. 1 seed over Big Horn. The Rams hold their spot in the poll in fifth. They are a two-seed this weekend.

Class 1A features the top seeds from each quadrant within the top five. Upton is No. 1 for the third straight week. They garnered eight first-place votes in the final balloting. Encampment earned the other three first-place nods. The Tigers remain a close second. Both the Bobcats and Tigers are top seeds at regional tournaments in Douglas for the East and Lander for the West. St. Stephens is another top seed in Lander. The Eagles are rated third in the final poll. Saratoga holds in fourth. The Panthers are a No. 2 seed in Lander. Finally at No. 5 is Lingle-Fort Laramie. The Doggers are a top seed in Douglas.

The only changes in the poll are just two teams flipping spots in the middle of both Class 4A and 3A this week.

Cheyenne Central has been on top of Class 4A for all but the preseason rankings. The Indians earned 23 of the 24 first-place votes. Cheyenne East hold sat No. 2. The Indians and Thunderbirds meet for the second time this season Friday night at Storey Gym in the Capital City. Thunder Basin’s victory last weekend over Sheridan pushes the Bolts up to third, while the Broncs fall to fourth. Those two teams are tied for the lead in the 4A Northeast Quadrant. Star Valley rounds out the top five for the second consecutive poll. Three other teams received votes. Class 4A teams are mainly playing their travel partner in quadrant action this week. There are a couple of other games on the schedule.

Class 3A features the Worland Warriors atop the rankings for the seventh straight week. They are a unanimous pick for the top spot, as well. Lander holds in second. Those two teams match-up in Worland on Friday night. Mountain View moves up one spot to third in this week’s balloting, which pushes Wheatland down to No. 4. The Bulldogs are coming off a two-point loss at Rawlins last Saturday. The Bulldogs have two games left in the regular season. The Buffalo Bison round out the top five for the second week in a row.

Class 4A and 3A will have one more set of rankings next week.
