With rounds of 66 and 64, Riverton sophomore Parker Paxton won his second straight Class 3A boys’ state golf championship last weekend in Lander.

Paxton’s margin of victory was 11 strokes over Worland’s Karsten Simmons. He was the only golfer to shoot both rounds in the 60s at the Lander Golf Course.

WyoPreps chatted with Paxton after his victory in the video at the top of this post.

Here is how Paxton and members of his group finished out their final hole in the 36-hole championship. Simmons, Cody’s Hunter Hall, and Star Valley’s PJ Horsley were part of the foursome.

Paxton was announced as the champion and joined the other all-state golfers in the top 10 of Class 3A boys for 2021.

Aided by the champ, Paxton, Riverton won the team crown, which is the fifth in school history.

Riverton head coach Lars Flanagan spoke with WyoPreps’ David Settle about Parker’s win and the team crown.

It is the Wolverines’ first boy’s golf state title since 2016.
