Sheridan’s Spielman Continues to Contend at High School Golf National Invitational
It was a little tougher second round, but Sheridan’s Samantha Spielman remained in the top 20 of the High School Golf National Invitational in Frisco, TX.
Spielman played the Old American Course and shot a 6-over par, 77. She is tied for 16th place out of 195 golfers in the field. Spielman is 11 shots off the pace set by New Jersey’s Angela Kim, who is at 4-under par. She plays her final round on the Field Ranch East course on the PGA Frisco campus.
Casper’s Carli Kalus is at 26-over par and tied for 104th. Just a couple of shots back is KW teammate Madison Griffin at 28-over par, which is tied for 115th.
The only Wyoming golfer in the field that moved up in the second round on Tuesday was Green River’s Isabell Salas. She 31-over part and tied for 126th place, but Salas climbed 13 spots up the leaderboard.
Rounding out the Wyoming contingent are Casper’s Haily Kalus at 34-over par and tied for 139. Wheatland’s Lily Nichols is 54-over par and tied for 178th. Casper’s Sydney Van Houten is at 80-over and in 193rd place.
As a team, Kelly Walsh remained in the 22nd spot out of 25 in the team standings. They are at plus-168.
Wednesday is the final round.
