The state championships for the fourth year of Wyoming High School softball are Thursday through Saturday in Gillette. The 2024 season finishes with an eight-team, double-elimination state tournament at the Energy Capital Sports Complex. Fields No. 1 and No. 2, the two closest to the parking lots at the complex, will be used to play games. These fields face southeast and southwest in Gillette. Thunder Basin is the two-time defending state champs.

2024 WYOMING HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL STATE TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

Seeding was based on each team’s conference record. The top four teams from each conference qualified for the state tournament. Thanks to tiebreakers in both conference races, the seeding is set.

Both Green River and Kelly Walsh finished conference play at 3-7, but the Wolves were 2-0 in head-to-head games, which gives the Wolves the No. 4 seed. Both Laramie and Wheatland finished at 5-7 in conference games. They split with each other. Laramie went 1-1 against No. 3 seed Cheyenne East, and Wheatland was 0-2. The Plainsmen get the No. 4 seed.

THURSDAY, MAY 16:

Final Score: (1E) Campbell County 16 (4W) Green River 1 - A. Gray had 2 hits (HR) & 4 RBIs. Rambo added 3 hits & 3 RBIs. Alexander also had 2 hits & 4 RBIs for CCHS. A. Gray & 2 relievers combined on a no-hitter.

Final Score: (3E) Cheyenne East 11 (2W) Rock Springs 7 - Stephenson led the way for the T-Birds with 3 hits & 4 RBIs. Bledsoe and Artery each added 2 hits & 2 RBIs.

Final Score: (2E) Thunder Basin 9 (3W) Natrona County 7 - the Bolts held off an NC comeback. TB led 8-0, but the Fillies cut it to 8-7 with 5 runs in the 6th. The Bolts got insurance on a Clonch HR in the 6th. She had 3 hits & 4 RBIs. Rodgers added 3 hits & 2 RBIs. Ransom had 3 hits & 3 RBIs for NC in the loss.

Final Score: (4E) Laramie 6 (1W) Cody 5 - Dean gave the Plainsmen the lead on a 2-RBI single in the top of the 7th. Sirdoreus added 4 hits & 2 RBIs.

FRIDAY, MAY 17:

Final Score: Cheyenne East 6 Campbell County 2- East jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never trailed. Brooks's 2-run HR in the 1st gave them the lead for good. Artery had 2 hits & 2 RBIs to lead the T-Birds.

Final Score: Thunder Basin 10 Laramie 0 - Schaffer of TB tosses a no-hitter with 11 Ks. Clonch and West had 2 hits & 3 RBIs apiece.

Final Score: Rock Springs 10 Green River 4 - Wolves are eliminated. Green River led 3-0 but the Tigers scored the next 6 runs to take the lead for good. Wester had 4 hits & 2 RBIs for RS. Florencio & Turnwall each hit 1 HR.

Final Score: Cody 6 Natrona County 4 - NC is eliminated  - Cody scored 3 in the 1st & 2 in the 2nd and held off NC. Wollschlager had 4 hits (3B, HR) & 1 RBI. Simone added 3 hits & 1 RBI

Final Score: Rock Springs 11 Laramie 6 - Plainsmen are eliminated - the Tigers scored 3 runs in the 1st and never trailed. Anderson, Sweeney, & Florencio combined for 7 hits, 7 RBIs, and 7 runs scored. Anderson & Florencio hit HRs.

Final Score: Campbell County 5 Cody 4 - Fillies are eliminated - 2 runs in the 6th helped the Camels survive & advance. Smith had 2 hits & 2 RBIs for CCHS, while Kimbley homered. Nielsen had 2 hits & 1 RBI for the Fillies.

Final Score: Campbell County 11 Rock Springs 1 – Tigers are eliminated & take 4th place - the Camels led 5-0 and scored 6 runs in the 3rd to break it open. Kimbley had 2 hits & 3 RBIs. Halbrooks added 2 hits & 2 RBIs.

Final Score: Thunder Basin 16 Cheyenne East 6 – semifinal (winner is in the championship) - the Bolts trailed 2-0, but scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st to take the lead for good. They added 5 in the 3rd and 6 in the 5th to close it out. Selfors had 3 hits & 4 RBIs. Terrell added 3 hits & 3 RBIs. Selfors, Rouse, & Clonch hit HRs for TB. East got 2 hits & 2 RBIs from Brooks, who hit 1 HR.

SATURDAY, MAY 18:

Final Score: Cheyenne East 7 Campbell County 6 – the Camels are eliminated & finish in 3rd place - East took a 3-0 lead, but Campbell County scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st. East scored 2 in the 3rd for a 5-4 lead. The Camels tied it in the 6th, but Kenzie Millar's 2-run HR put the T-Birds in front. CC scored 1 in the 7th but it wasn't enough. Brooks added a 3-run HR for CE. Kimbley had 3 hits for the Camels.

Final Score: Thunder Basin 10 Cheyenne East 0 – Championship Game - The Bolts win their 3rd state championship in a row. TB scored 7 runs over the final 2 innings to end the game in the 6th with a 10-run victory. Natalie Conch and Allie Rodgers had 2 hits & 2 RBIs each. Paige Shaffer tossed a 3-hit shutout in the circle with 5 Ks and only 1 walk. Cheyenne East placed 2nd for the 2nd straight year.
