The first Wyoming High School Regional Softball Championships are in Casper and Laramie on Friday and Saturday. These are eight-team, double-elimination brackets. Two wins and a team will advance to the state tournament. Two losses and a team is eliminated. The top four teams will earn a spot at next week’s state championships in Cheyenne. The seeding was based on a team’s conference record and tiebreakers.

All games are at the Field of Dreams Complex in Casper

Kelly Walsh earned the NW No. 1 seed on the runs allowed tiebreaker in the head-to-head conference games with Cody and Natrona County. Kelly Walsh allowed 37. Cody allowed 38, and Natrona County allowed 49. Cody got the second seed, and NC settled for the third seed.

Friday, May 16:

Final Score: (NW1) Kelly Walsh 18 (NE4) Worland 9 - a 9-run 5th helped the Trojans pull away. Smith had 2 HRs among 3 hits & 4 RBIs for KW, and Pedersen added 2 hits & 5 RBIs.

Final Score: (NE2) Sheridan 14 (NW3) Natrona County 4 - a 10-run 2nd propelled the Broncs to the victory. Kelley homered and drove in 3.

Final Score: (NE3) Campbell County 22 (NW2) Cody 6 - an 11-run 4th broke it open for the Camels. Gray had 4 hits (HR) & 7 RBIs. Kimbley added 2 HRs and 4 RBIs.

Final Score: (NE1) Thunder Basin 18 (NW4) Jackson 3 - the Bolts broke it open with 10 runs in the 3rd. Terrell had 2 hits, including 1 HR, and 3 RBIs. Shawver also homered and drove in 2.

Final Score: Sheridan 28 Kelly Walsh 13 – Broncs qualify for state - the Broncs jumped out 17-1. Sheridan hit 6 home runs. Atter had 2 doubles & 1 HR among 5 hits & 6 RBIs. Kerckaert had 2 HRs & 2 doubles among 5 hits & 4 RBIs.

Final Score: Natrona County 12 Worland 9 – Warriors are eliminated - NC scored 4 in the top of the 7th to win it. Sale & Crawford had 3 hits & 2 RBIs each. An RBI sac-fly put NC in front.

Final Score: Campbell County 19 Thunder Basin 5 – Camels qualify for state - Campbell County scored the first 15 runs of the game. Kimbley doubled, tripled & 5 RBIs. Thayer homered and drove in 3 runs.

Final Score: Cody 20 Jackson 10 - Broncs are eliminated - the Fillies scored 16 runs over their last 3 at-bats. Teten had 4 hits (2B, HR) & 5 RBIs, and Lindahl added 4 hits & 3 RBIs.

Saturday, May 17:

Final Score: Natrona County 8 Thunder Basin 6 - Fillies qualify for state; Bolts are eliminated - NC knocks out the 3-time defending state champion thanks to home runs from Lexi Randolph and Marley Dickinson. Olivia Devoe drove in 2 for the Fillies, while Danica Shawver went 3-4 with 2 runs scored for Thunder Basin.

Final Score: Cody 20 Kelly Walsh 14 - Fillies qualify for state; Trojans are eliminated -C. Lindemann drove in 4 runs for Cody, and Ryleigh Sisco went 2-5 with 3 runs batted in for Kelly Walsh.

Final Score: Cody 19 Natrona County 18 - Cody takes 3rd, Natrona 4th. Cody had a pair of 7-run innings, and Natrona scored 7 times in the 5th and 5 in the 6th. Amelia Reinker, Camri Lindeman, and Hadli Lindemann each drove in 4 runs for the Broncs. Kyra Randolph went 5-6 with 4 RBIs, and Marley Dickinson homered and drove in 3 runs for the Fillies.

Final Score: Campbell County 16 Sheridan 4 - Campbell County wins Regional Tournament with Sheridan placing 2nd. Campbell County was led by Gray, who hit 2 home runs and drove in 4. Seven different players had an RBI for the Camels. Kelley homered for Sheridan and drove in 4 runs.

Final Score: (SE2) Wheatland 20 (SW3) Green River 9 - Bulldogs smacked 5 HRs. Adams had 2 HR among 4 hits and 5 RBIs. Vaughn added 4 hits (HR) & 4 RBIs for Wheatland.

Final Score: (SE3) Cheyenne Central 12 (SW2) Rock Springs 2 - down 2-1, the Indians scored the last 9 runs. Thomas & Birt homered for Central. Kelly & Birt drove in 3 runs each.

Final Score: (SE1) Cheyenne East 18 (SW4) Cheyenne South 2 - East broke it open with 10 runs in the 2nd inning. Hollibaugh had 2 doubles & a home run and 3 RBIs.

Final Score: Laramie 21 Wheatland 20 - 10 inns. – Plainsmen qualify for state - Kricken hits the game-winning RBI sac-fly for Laramie. Hodges led Laramie with 5 hits (HR), 3 RBIs, and 4 runs scored, and Dean added 4 hits (HR) & 4 RBIs. Vaughn & Adams had 4 hits & 3 RBIs each.

Final Score: Green River 20 Torrington 10 – Trailblazers are eliminated - the Wolves pulled away with 13 runs in their last 2 at-bats. Allred had 5 hits (2-2B, 3B) & 2 RBIs. Shiner added 4 hits (2-2B, 3B) & 2 RBIs.

Final Score: Cheyenne East 10 Cheyenne Central 9 – T-Birds qualify for state - in a game that featured five lead changes, East won on Artery's walk-off RBI single to CF. Bledsoe had 4 hits (2-2B, HR) & 3 RBIs.

Final Score: Rock Springs 17 Cheyenne South 13 – Bison are eliminated - RS broke open a tie game with 4 runs in the 5th inning. Florencio led the Tigers with 4 hits & 3 RBIs. Mellish had 4 hits & 4 RBIs for South.

Saturday, May 17:

Final Score: Cheyenne Central 9 Green River 1 - the Indians qualify for state; the Wolves are eliminated - the Indians scored 3 in the first and 3 more in the 3rd. Maddie Birt had 3 RBIs and Porcha Kammerman had 2 hits, including a home run. Jocelyn Shantz went 1-3 with an RBI for Green River.

Final Score: Rock Springs 15 Wheatland 13 - the Tigers qualify for state; the Bulldogs are eliminated - RS led 5-0 after 2 innings of play and 15-7 after 5 innings. 8 starters had at least one hit for the Tigers. Hadlee Miller drove in 5 runs. 8 starters for Wheatland had at least one hit, with Karley Adams producing 4 RBI's for the Bulldogs.

Final Score: Cheyenne Central 11 Rock Springs 7 - the Indians get the No. 3 seed, and the Tigers are 4th.

Final Score: Laramie 18 Cheyenne East 16 - 9 inns. - Laramie wins the regional championship, and East is 2nd. Carson Milam hit 2 home runs and drove in 7 for Laramie. McKenzie Millar went 3-5 with 4 runs batted in and scored twice.
