The Jackson Broncs won seven of 12 events to capture the 2025 Class 4A girls swimming and diving state championship on November 7 in Laramie. It was the Broncs’ first title in the big school division. It’s Jackson’s first girls’ swim title since 2015 and 11th in school history. Led by seniors Maren Tattersall and Amaya Olivieri, who won two individual events each. The Broncs won two relays, and Anna Baxter prevailed in the 100-breaststroke race.

WYOPREPS 2025 CLASS 4A GIRLS STATE SWIM MEET RECAP

Tattersall swept the distance freestyle races for a second straight year. She touched the wall in the 200-free at 1:57.20 and followed that up with a win in the 500 free at 5:17.56. Olivieri defended her state titles in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke races. She won the freestyle race in 52.38 seconds and captured the backstroke at 58.39 seconds. Both helped Jackson win the 200-medley relay at the start of the swim meet in a time of 1:47.45. The Broncs rolled to a nine-second victory in the 400 free relay at 3:34.31. Baxter won her first individual state title in the breaststroke at 1:05.37.

Green River Senior Tavia Arnell Swept the Big Honors at the 4A Meet

Green River’s Tavia Arnell was the star of the championships. She took first place in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly races again. She won the IM at 2:06.31 and the fly at 55.68 seconds, which was .06 from a state record. Arnell was named the 4A Athlete of the Meet and 4A Athlete of the Year.

Cheyenne Central junior Ella Reed won the diving title. She rallied from a four-point deficit after the prelims and semifinals, or through eight rounds. Reed pulled away for her first diving crown with 441.70 points. She won by almost 23 points.

The final individual event winner was Cheyenne East senior Nzelle Ayokosok in the 50-freestyle. She touched the wall at 24.52 seconds.

Green River won the 200 freestyle relay at 1:40.37.

No state records fell at the 4A girls’ state swim meet.

Jackson head coach Jim Jenkins was chosen as the Coach of the Year. Roan Eastman of Jackson was selected as the Assistant Coach of the Year.
