In 2021, Thermopolis had an unbelievable run through the state tournament en route to a 5th place finish in 2A. The Bobcats had an astounding four state champions and 2 of those champs return for 2022. Wyatt McDermott won it all at 138 pounds last year and moved up to 145 this year. He took 2nd in the Shane Shatto tournament in Douglas over the weekend, losing to Jais Rose of Thunder Basin in the final 6-4.

Roedy Farrell took the podium in 2021 at 152 pounds and right now is wrestling at 160. He placed 3rd at the Shatto Tournament in Douglas thanks to a 10-8 decision over Terran Grooms of Sheridan to win the bronze medal. McDermott and Farrell went a combined 54-8 last season and Farrell enjoyed a great fall season in rodeo, leading the state's standings in the bareback.

We talked with both Farrell and McDermott in Douglas and while they didn't take the top of the podium, they're not discouraged about the season ahead.

University of Wyoming’s Top 50 Football Players

During the summer of 2021, 7220Sports.com counted down the Top 50 football players in University of Wyoming history, presented by Premier Bone & Joint Centers, Worthy of Wyoming.

The rules are simple: What was the player's impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.

This isn't a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220's Cody Tucker are Robert GagliardiJared NewlandRyan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.

We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS -- only we hope this catalog is fairer.
