Both disciplines of skiing will be in action this weekend.

Alpine skiers head back to Casper Mountain for three days of racing. Cross-country skiers are heading west of Cody for two days of competition.

Alpine Skiing

The downhillers will complete the Cody Invite before racing the second Casper one of this season.

Thursday at 1 p.m., the GS or Giant Slalom of the Cody Invite will be contested to complete that weekend of the Cody Invite that was snowed out on Jan. 28, 2023, at Red Lodge Mountain in Montana. This race will be on the Boomerang run.

Thursday Results

Jackson's Taylor Smith and Travis D'Amours win the postponed GS from the Cody Invite. Jackson swept the top 3 in the girls' division, while the Broncs had 4 of the top 5 in the boys' division.

Girls Team Scores: Jackson 63, Natrona County 57, Cody & Kelly Walsh 17, Pinedale 12, Laramie 5.

The NCHS Britt Farr Invitational Alpine Ski Race will be at Hogadon Basin Ski Area on Casper Mountain this Friday and Saturday.

Friday will be the slalom race on Dreadnaught run at Hogadon Basin. The race starts at 10 a.m.

Friday Race Results

Jackson swept the top 4 spots in each division. The slalom winners were Taylor Smith and Owen Janssen. Jackson leads both team standings after Day 1.

The GS for the Britt Farr Invitational will be on Saturday at Hogadon Basin. It also starts at 10 a.m.

Saturday Race Results

Taylor Smith of Jackson won the girls' division at a time of 1:22.05. Owen Janssen of Jackson took the boys' division at 1:18.27.

Girls Team Scores: Jackson 140, Natrona County 92, Cody 39, Kelly Walsh 35, Pinedale 25, Laramie 12.

Boys Team Scores: Jackson 116, Natrona County 75, Pinedale 48, Kelly Walsh 36, Cody 31, Laramie 27. 

Natrona County is hosting skiers from Cody, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, and Pinedale.

 

Nordic Skiing

Nordic skiers head northwest for the second straight weekend on the trails.

Cody High School hosts its Invitational Nordic Ski Meet at Pahaska. The venue is approximately 50 minutes west of Cody near the Yellowstone Park border.

Friday will be the 6km classic race. It starts at 1 p.m. The varsity girls will ski first, and then the varsity boys. This race has interval starts, so a new skier will take to the course every 15 seconds.

Friday Race Results

Ameya Eddy and Bennett Hutchison of Lander swept the individual titles in the classic race at Pahaska.

Eddy finished the course in a time of 21:13.9. Teammates Emily Anderson and Shayla Babits were second and third, respectively.

Hutchison crossed the finish line at a time of 18:36.7. Fisk Johansson of Kelly Walsh was the runner-up, and Kalel Brubaker from Natrona County took third.

Saturday is a 10km race at 10 a.m. The boys will ski first, followed by the girls. It also has an interval start every 15 seconds.

Saturday Race Results

Ameya Eddy of Lander won the girls' race at 29:16.6. Elisa Wachob of Cody placed 2nd, and Eliza Fay of Laramie took 3rd.

Bennett Hutchison of Lander won the boys' division at 25:24. Jack Voos of Laramie took 2nd, and Diego Lobatos of Lander was 3rd.
