Photofest: State Wrestling-Semifinals

The semifinal round of the State Wrestling Tournament in Casper had all the excitement and drama that you would want. There was a ton at stake on Friday night at the Ford Center and it was literally, the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.

In 4A heading into the finals on Saturday, Thunder Basin is in good shape with 197 points and 4 wrestlers in the finals. Sheridan is 2nd with 164.5 and they have 5 guys in the finals. Cheyenne East is running 3rd with 4 in the finals with Star Valley 4th with 136.5 and they have 3 guys in the finals. Rock Springs put 5 boys in the finals and is running 5th with 136.

Over in 3A, Green River has a sizable lead heading into the final day. The Wolves have 204 points and 6 in the finals. Pinedale is 2nd with 162 points and 5 wrestlers in the finals. Cody is running 3rd with 123 points with 2 wrestlers in the championship round, Rawlins is 4th with 123 points and the Outlaws have 4 guys in the finals. Evanston had 2 guys make the last round and are in 5th place with 108 points.

In 2A, Moorcroft is holding on to first place over Kemmerer 180.5 to 169 with Moorcroft getting 4 guys in the finals and Kemmerer putting 5 in. Thermopolis has 4 guys in the finals as well and is in third place with 145 points and LFL/Southeast is in 4th place with 143 points and 3 guys in the championship round. Big Piney put 2 guys in the championship round and are in 5th place with 115 points.

Finally for the girls, defending champion Star Valley has a substantial lead heading into Saturday's action with 144 points and 4 ladies in the finals. Pinedale is a distant 2nd with 89 points and the Wranglers have 3 wrestlers in the championship round. Wind River is 3rd with 88 points and the Cougars also have 3 wrestlers in the finals. Cheyenne East is running 4th with 87 points and they have 2 in the finals. Sheridan also has 2 in the finals and is 5th in the team standings with 80 points.
