A New No. 1 Highlights the Latest WyoPreps Volleyball Rankings
The new WyoPreps Coaches and Media Volleyball Poll sees Class 3A with the most changes in the sixth edition.
There is a new No. 1 and other teams shuffled in the rankings. Other than that, Class 1A had some movement, and Class 2A saw two teams’ trade spots.
The Lyman Eagles regained the top spot in 3A for the first time since the second poll of the season. They earned six of the ten first-place votes. Lyman won at rival Mountain View last weekend in four sets and slipped past the Buffalos by six points in the voting. Mountain View got the other four first-place votes. Wheatland jumped up two positions to third. Powell moved up one to fourth, and Douglas fell to fifth.
Riverside made the most significant move in Class 1A. The Rebels won the Bobcat Invitational in Thermopolis last weekend and climbed two spots to second in the latest rankings. They garnered seven first-place votes. Southeast held the No. 1 spot with eight first-place votes. Cokeville and Kaycee both fell one place with Riverside’s move. Little Snake River came in second at the Bobcat Invitational and re-entered the poll at No. 5.
The only difference in the 2A rankings was Wright and Rocky Mountain traded spots. Big Horn was a unanimous choice for No. 1. They are followed again by Burns in second. Wright moved up to third, which pushed the Grizzlies down to fourth. Sundance held in fifth.
Class 4A had zero changes. It was the same top five for the third straight poll. Kelly Walsh was a unanimous pick again for first. Thunder Basin, Cody, Laramie, and Natrona County rounded out the top five.
