Surging Laramie Finally Breaks Into WyoPreps Softball Rankings

For the second consecutive WyoPreps Coaches and Media Softball Poll, the No. 5-ranked team changed. Laramie joined the rankings for the first time this season. LHS has garnered votes in every poll this spring but failed to crack the top five until this week. The Lady Plainsmen have won seven straight games and lead the Southwest Conference. The top four stayed the same, again.

WYOPREPS WEEKLY SOFTBALL RANKINGS ON APRIL 29, 2026

Laramie has not lost since game two of a cross-quad doubleheader on April 10. They swept conference foes Rock Springs and Green River on the road last weekend. For most of the season, they’ve been just outside the top five, but finally broke through this week. Campbell County held the top spot with 13 of the 21 first-place votes. Cheyenne Central received seven ballots for No. 1. Cheyenne East kept its position in third. Thunder Basin held onto fourth. Despite receiving a vote for the top spot, Cody was pushed out of the rankings. Two other teams also got votes.

2 = Central

3 = East

4 = Thunder Basin

5 = Laramie

Last weeks scheduled featured all conference doubleheaders. A handful were postponed because of the weather. This week’s schedule is highlighted by the two tournaments. The Westside is in Cody, and the Eastside is in Gillette.
