Cody Climbs Into Top Five of WyoPreps Softball Poll After Hot Stretch

A new team entered the top five in the latest WyoPreps Coaches and Media Softball Poll unveiled on Wednesday at WyoPreps.com. The surging Cody Fillies have joined the rankings. They received a few votes in the preseason poll and one last week, but have won five of their last six games and taken the lead in the Northwest Conference. The top four remained the same.

The Fillies gave top-ranked Campbell County their first loss of the season last Saturday in Gillette. That, combined with a close loss in game two to the Camels, impressed enough voters and put the Fillies in the top five. Since the last rankings, Campbell County has taken two losses, but the Camels still received 15 of the 22 first-place votes in the new poll. Cheyenne Central beat rival and No. 3 Cheyenne East last week. That helped the Indians close the gap on Campbell County. Central earned seven first-place votes. The Thunderbirds held onto the third spot, and Thunder Basin kept the fourth position. Three more teams got votes in the latest poll. Rock Springs was knocked out of the top five by Cody.

1 = Campbell County

2 = Central

3 = East

4 = Thunder Basin

5 = Cody
