Cole, Ranum, and Walker are the WyoPreps Athletes of the Week 5-8-25 [VIDEO]
The WyoPreps Athletes of the Week, presented by Premier Bone and Joint Centers, turned in outstanding efforts on the softball diamond and in field events from track and field. After last week’s performances, April 28 through May 4, 2025, Campbell County junior Sadie Cole, Campbell County senior Raynor Ranum, and Kelly Walsh senior Landon Walker were chosen for the weekly honor. Cole turned in a dominating week in the circle for the Camels, while Ranum and Walker set records at the Wyoming Track Classic.

Girls Winner
Cole helped Campbell County to a 6-0 record last week on the softball diamond. They swept Kelly Walsh in cross-pod games and then went 4-0 in the Eastside Softball Tournament in Wheatland and Torrington. That included victories over the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 5 ranked teams in the state. Cole went 4-0 in the circle. She threw 20 innings and allowed only five runs on 11 hits in the four games. Cole struck out 44 batters and walked only 13. Two of her performances were shutouts, against No. 3 Wheatland and No. 2 Cheyenne East. She struck out 13 in a 3-0 victory over the Thunderbirds. She also had 12 strikeouts against Kelly Walsh and ten versus Central. In limited appearances at the plate, Cole was 4-8 with one double, one RBI, and five runs scored. She also walked twice.
WyoPreps caught up with Ms. Cole to chat regarding her effort last week. Cole said it was a big week for the team and her. She discussed her most effective pitches, the game that stood out most, her love for softball, and other key items that made last week a great week.

Boys Winners
Raynor Ranum swept both throwing events at the prestigious Wyoming Track Classic, which is a best-of-the-best individual track meet. One of the top throwers in the state this year, the senior won the shot put at the Classic with a toss of 64-04. That set a new meet record. He won by nearly 13 feet over the runner-up. Ranum also took first in the discus. His best toss was 160-09, and he won that event by over 11 feet.
Raynor spoke with WyoPreps about his performance. He said the key was that everything came together in a good way. Ranum described his mindset, his technique, how he got into throwing, and more.
Landon Walker also had a big day last Friday at the Wyoming Track Classic. He won the long jump and the triple jump. What stood out was his leap of 49-07 in the triple jump, which was a new all-time best mark in state history. It does not set a state record, because those must be set at the state championships later this month, but no one has ever jumped farther from Wyoming at the prep track and field level. Walker won that event by over three feet. His best mark in the long jump was 23-1.50. That made it a two-for-two day at the Classic.
Walker reflected on his day with WyoPreps. He described how good he felt entering that track meet, how he was a bit surprised by the distance since it came after his win in the long jump, what his focus is for both events, and more.
Congratulations to Sadie, Raynor, and Landon on being selected as the Premier Bone and Joint Centers WyoPreps Athletes of the Week!
