Cheyenne East Girls Dethrone Defending 4A Champion Gillette

In a battle of the last 2 state champions in 4A, Cheyenne East nipped Gillette 62-58 in the semi-final round at the Casper Events Center on Friday night. East led 36-31 at the half and needed a couple of late free throws to seal the win. The Thunderbiirds shot 52% from the field and received 22 points and 9 rebounds from Ky Buell. Madison Blaney chipped in a dozen. Gillette got 25 points from the states Gatorade Player of the Year Rylee Hladly on 10-18 from the field. East will play Thunder Basin in the 4A Championship Saturday night at the Events Center
