
Mid-Season Showdowns: Wyoming Cross-Country Teams Test Their Pace in Week 4 Meets
Wyoming High School cross-country teams reach the mid-point of the 2025 season. It’s Week 4, and Lander, Evanston, Rawlins, Moorcroft, and Sheridan will have the in-state races. Lander is on Thursday. Evanston, Moorcroft, and Rawlins will be on Friday, and Sheridan’s meet is on Saturday. A few teams will head down to Colorado or over to Idaho or Nebraska. Star Valley travels the furthest, as the Braves will race in Tillamook, OR.

Lander Cross Country Invitational at the Lander Community & Convention Disc Golf Course in Lander – Burlington, Ft. Washakie, Lander, Lovell, Riverton, St. Stephens, Thermopolis, Wind River, Worland.
Girls Team Scores = Worland 20, Lander 36.
Boys Team Scores = Worland 46, Burlington 73, Riverton 77, Lander 82, Thermopolis 92, Lovell 137, St. Stephens 192.

Friday, Sept. 19:
Red Devil Invitational Cross Country Meet at Purple Sage Golf Course – Evanston, Lyman, Mountain View, Rock Springs; Out-of-State – Manila, UT.
Aria Wheeler from Rock Springs posted a 35-second victory in the girls' race. Breck Barton of Evanston won the boys' race by 31 seconds.
No team scores were posted.
Rawlins XC Invitational at Rochelle Ranch Golf Course – Douglas, Glenrock, Green River, Rawlins, Rock River, Saratoga, Wheatland, Wyoming Indian.
Sihauna Sanchez from Saratoga captured 1st place in the girls' division. Noah Blasi from Rawlins won the boys' race.
Girls Team Scores = Douglas 30, Rawlins 46, Saratoga 64, Wyoming Indian 78.
Boys Team Scores = Rawlins 33, Wyoming Indian 55, Green River 65, Douglas 96, Glenrock 101, Wheatland 162.
Wolves Invite HS XC Meet at Pine Haven Golf Course – Hulett, Moorcroft, Newcastle, Sundance, Wright.

Out-of-State Events:
Alliance Invite in Alliance, NE – Burns/Pine Bluffs, Lusk, Torrington.
Maci Lyons of Lusk took 2nd place in the girls' race. Cole Tregemba of Torrington was the top Wyoming boy in 11th place.
Arvada West Durden Invitational in Arvada, CO – Cheyenne Central, Kelly Walsh, Thunder Basin.
Malea Adams-Case of Cheyenne Central won the race. Central swept the top three spots and placed 5 girls in the top 11 to easily win the team title. Central's Cal Bibbey was the runner-up in the boys' division.
Windsor Wizards Invitational at Windsor, CO – Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Laramie.
Laramie's Keiran Giraldo led a 2-3-4 finish for the Plainsmen girls, who won the team crown. Lucas Steveson of Cheyenne East beat teammate Aden Zwonitzer by 2 seconds and helped the T-Birds take 1st as a team.
Saturday, Sept. 20:
Michelle Ludwig Cross Country Invitational in Sheridan at VA Hospital – Big Horn, Buffalo, Campbell County, Cody, Natrona County, Powell, Sheridan, Tongue River.
Lyla Marney from Big Horn won the girls' division. Cody won the girls' team title. Eli Balkenbush from Sheridan won on his home course and led the Broncs to the team win.
Out-of-State Events:
Eagle Island XC Invitational in Boise, ID – Jackson.
Jackson was 14th in the girls' team standings. The Broncs were 11th in the boys' team standings.
The Mook XC Invite at Tillamook, OR – Star Valley.
Colton Cranney of Star Valley won his race division at 14:50.20, the fastest time this season for a Wyoming runner. Star Valley's boys took 2nd in that division. The girls were 4th in their division.
