
Wyoming High School Cross Country Scoreboard: Aug. 28-30, 2025
Wyoming High School cross country teams make their debut in the 2025 season during the last weekend in August. The first race will occur in Afton on Thursday with a mix of Wyoming, Idaho, and Utah schools. Newcastle and Pavillion host some smaller events on Friday. A lot of teams are heading to Cheyenne on Saturday morning for a preview of the cross-country course that will host the state championships in late October. Lastly, a few Wyoming schools are going to a cross-country race in Montana.

This is the Week 1 schedule for cross country. All schedules are subject to change.
Thursday, Aug. 28:
More Cowbell Invitational at the Valli Vu Golf Course in Afton, WY – Evanston, Lander, Lyman, Mountain View, Star Valley; Out-of-state – Firth (ID), Grace (ID), Hillcrest (ID), Idaho Falls (ID), North Summit (UT), Shelley (ID), Skyline (ID), Soda Springs (ID), South Fremont (ID), Sugar-Salem (ID), Thunder Ridge (ID), West Side (ID).
Adding the boys' and girls' scores from each section of the race, Skyline HS from Idaho Falls won the Crimson section, and Star Valley won the Gold section.
Friday, Aug. 29:
Newcastle Mallo Camp Invite – Douglas, Hulett, Lusk, Moorcroft, Newcastle, Sundance, Wright.
Lusk freshman Maci Lyons won the girls' race. Newcastle's Sam Cunnigham took first in the boys' race. Douglas won both team titles.
Wind River XC Invite – Ft. Washakie, Wind River.
Glorian Blackbear of Wind River won the boys' race, and Olivia Remacle of Wind River won the girls' race.
Out-of-State Events:
Billings (MT) Invite at Amend Park – Big Horn, Burlington, Lovell, Powell, Rocky Mountain.
Lyla Marney of Big Horn took 2nd place. Kelli McNiven of Burlington placed 4th. Kellen Winters took 3rd in the boys' race. Teammate Connor Hoyt took 8th.

Saturday, Aug. 30:
Wyoming Invitational at Little America G.C. in Cheyenne (State Course Preview) – Arapaho Charter, Buffalo, Burns/Pine Bluffs, Campbell County, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Cody, Glenrock, Green River, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Natrona County, Rawlins, Riverton, Rock River, Rock Springs, Saratoga, Sheridan, Thermopolis, Thunder Basin, Tongue River, Torrington, Wheatland, Wright, Wyoming Indian. Out-of-state – Brush (CO), Dakota Ridge (CO), Estes Park (CO), Forge Christian (CO), Mead (CO), Platte Valley (CO), Roosevelt (CO), Windsor (CO).
Maggie Madsen of Cheyenne East won the girls' race by 29 seconds. Cheyenne Central took 1st in the girls' team standings, and Laramie was third. The top Wyoming finisher in the boys' race was Eli Balkenbush of Sheridan, who finished 3rd. Sheridan took 2nd, and Kelly Walsh was 3rd in the team standings.
