
Week 3 Brings A Whirlwind Of Cross Country Meets Across The State And Region
Wyoming’s prep high school cross-country season rolls along with Week 3 of the 2025 season. Schools are spread out across the region again. There are five meets in the state. Riverton and Gillette host on Thursday. Douglas and Green River will welcome teams on Friday. The final in-state competition will be in Ethete on Saturday. Other schools will compete in Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, or South Dakota.
2025 WYOPREPS WEEK 3 CROSS COUNTRY SCHEDULE
This is the Week 3 schedule for cross country. All schedules are subject to change.
Thursday, Sept. 11:
Berry Bryant/Kyle Johnson Memorial CC Meet 2025 at Riverton Rendezvous Site in Riverton, WY – Arapaho Charter, Burlington, Lander, Lovell, Riverton, Rock River, St. Stephens, Wind River, Worland.
Dorothy Jensen of Lander won for the third time this season by 3 seconds. Lander had the only girls' team score. Kellen Winters from Burlington won the boys' race by 37 seconds. Worland won the boys' team title.
Wayne Chaney Invitational at the Cam-Plex in Gillette – Buffalo, Campbell County, Cody, Kelly Walsh, Natrona County, Thunder Basin.
Raina Wachob of Cody won the race by almost 45 seconds. Cody won the girls' team title with 19 points. Buffalo's Ethan Rayo took 1st place by 23 seconds in the boys' division. Thunder Basin won the boys' team crown.
Out-of-State Events:
Belle Fourche Invitational CC meet at Belle Fourche, SD – Hulett, Moorcroft, Newcastle, Sundance.
Tess Daily of Sundance took 8th and was the top girl from Wyoming. Sam Cunningham from Newcastle was the runner-up.

Friday, Sept. 12:
Douglas XC Invitational at Douglas Country Club – Douglas, Glenrock, Rawlins, Saratoga, Tongue River, Torrington, Wheatland, Wright.
Raelyn Goff from Wheatland was the girls' winner. Noah Blasi from Rawlins won the boys' race.
Girls Team Scores = Douglas 29, Tongue River 58, Rawlins 61, Saratoga 70.
Boys Team Scores = Rawlins 28, Glenrock 59, Douglas 63, Tongue River 101, Torrington 120.
Green River XC Invitational at Rolling Green Country Club – Green River, Rock Springs; Out-of-State = Manila, UT.
Aria Wheeler and William Maes from Rock Springs were the winners. Rock Springs also won both team titles.
Out-of-State Events:
Chadron HS XC Meet in Chadron, NE – Lusk.
Maci Lyons of Lusk took 3rd place.
Kimball Invite in Kimball, NE – Burns/Pine Bluffs.
Natalia Caballero was 3rd. Sutter Allen took 7th in the boys' race. There were no girls' team scores. Burns/Pine Bluffs placed 3rd in the boys' division.
Tiger/Grizz Invitational at Idaho Falls, ID – Star Valley.
Carlee Angell took 33rd in the girls' division. The Braves were 7th in the team standings. On the boys' side, Colton Cranney was 3rd, and the Braves placed 5th.
Saturday, Sept. 13:
Chief Nation Invitational at Wyoming Indian HS in Ethete – Arapahoe Charter, Ft. Washakie, Thermopolis, Wind River, Wyoming Indian; Out-of-State = Little Wound (SD).
Dai'Onna Posey of Wyoming Indian and Jadeth Elder from Thermopolis were the two race champions. Wyoming Indian swept the team crowns on their home course.
Out-of-State Events:
Border Wars in Taylorsville, UT – Evanston, Jackson, Lyman, Mountain View.
Jackson's Tirzah Ellis was 5th in the Sophomore race. Jackson's Dylan McGee was runner-up in the Junior race.
Bozeman XC Invite at Bozeman, MT – Big Horn, Kelly Walsh, Natrona County, Powell, Sheridan.
In the girls' race, Lyla Marney from Big Horn was Wyoming's top finisher in 6th place. KW took 4th in the team standings. The boys' top finisher was Eli Balkenbush, who came in 5th place. He led the Broncs to a runner-up finish.
Liberty Bell Cross Country Invitational 2025 at Littleton, CO – Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Laramie.
Maggie Madsen of East was 13th in the girls' Sweepstakes race. Race Morrell from Central took 14th in the boys' Sweepstakes race. The Central girls placed 6th as a team in the sweepstakes division. Lucas Steveson was 8th in the boys' Division I race. Cal Bibbey of Central was 4th, and Laramie's Flint Hartsky took 5th in the Division II race.
Rough Rider XC Invitational 2025 at Johnstown, CO – Cheyenne South.
Sara Hedlum placed 14th in the girls' race. South was 6th as a team. In the boys' race, Brian Penny took 12th place, and the Bison were 11th as a team.
