The Class 4A football state championship game will include a new team for the first time since 2021. On Saturday, four-time defending champion and top-ranked Sheridan faces off against No. 2 Campbell County at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie. The Broncs have won the last three 4A title games against Cheyenne East. It is the first new opponent since Sheridan played Rock Springs four years ago.

The regular-season matchup was in Week 7. Sheridan rallied in the second half for a 28-10 victory in Gillette over the Camels. Sheridan carries a 54-game winning streak into this contest. That is the third-longest streak in the nation. It is the fourth title game between the two programs and the second meeting in Laramie.

Sheridan (11-0) – Jeff Mowry: 8th year as head coach; 30 state championships in school history. Their first title came in 1921. In state championship games, Sheridan has a 21-7 record. It will be their 29th appearance in a title game. The Broncs are making their 13th appearance in the Class 4A championship game in Laramie. They’ve also won it all in 2009, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. They are 10-2 all-time in championship games at War Memorial Stadium. The Broncs are going for a 5-peat.

Campbell County (10-1) – Cole White: acting head coach; 4 state championships in school history; the most recent was in 2008 (23-21 over Green River). The Camels’ state championships have all come since 1998 (1998, 2000, 2006, 2008). It is Campbell County’s 14th appearance in a title game and first since 2015. The Camels are 4-9 all-time in championship games. Campbell County is making its fourth trip to a title game in Laramie. The Camels are 0-3 in their previous contests at War Memorial Stadium, and their last loss was to the Broncs in 2015.

Sheridan leads the all-time series 51-31-1. They first played each other in a varsity game in 1921. It will be the 11th postseason meeting between the two schools. Sheridan holds a 7-3 advantage over Campbell County. The Broncs have three title game victories over the Camels. Those were in 1991, 1992, and 2015.
