The High School National Invitational Golf Tournament concluded last week at the legendary Pinehurst complex in North Carolina with the Kelly Walsh boys and Thunder Basin girls each placing 9th.

On the boy's side, Parker Paxton from the famous Paxton golfing family had the lowest score from the Wyoming contingent as he shot 3 rounds of 74 to finish 24th. He will be a freshman this coming year at Riverton but played for Kelly Walsh in this tourney and finished with a 6 over par 222. KW's Russel Sprecher shot rounds of 75-78 and 74 to finish at 227 while Taj Sutherland of the Trojans shot 77-76 and 76 to finish at 229.

Defending 3A state champion Jaren Calkins of Lander was at 10 over par with rounds of 71-77 and 78 to finish at 226. Hardy Johnson of Thermopolis who is the defending 2A state champion carded rounds of 77-79 and 84 to finish at 240.

On the ladies' side, the top Wyoming finisher was Maria Farnum of Thunder Basin with a total of 262 thanks to rounds of 91-87 and 84. Sheridan's Samantha Spielman finished at 275
