Pine Bluffs Repeats as 2A Boys Basketball State Champions
It was a rematch in the 2A Boys Basketball State Championship on Saturday in Casper as Pine Bluffs took on Big Horn. A year ago, Pine Bluffs won the state title with an 11-point win over Big Horn, and this year Pine Bluffs won the title by 11.
The game was knotted up at 32 after 3 quarters of play and the Hornets outscored the Rams 17-6 in the final stanza. Stu Lerwick had a sensational game for Pine Bluffs with 24 points with 7 field goals and 7 made free throws. Ryan Fornstrom and Dalton Schaefer chipped in 9 apiece.
Big Horn had a rough first half from the field going 3-15 but shot 45% from the floor in the 2nd half. The Rams got 13 points from Caleb Gibson and 9 from Cooper Garber. Pine Bluffs finished the season 26-3 and Big Horn wrapped things up with a mark of 22-3.
