
The Road to a Title Ends in Casper for Wyoming 3A and 4A Boys Basketball Teams
The last weekend of the 2026 boys’ prep basketball in Wyoming features the Class 3A and 4A state championships in Casper. Two squads will earn a state title during the second weekend in March. The tournaments will be at the Ford Wyoming Center (FWC) and Casper College (CC). Both defending champs have a shot to repeat. Lovell is the reigning champion in Class 3A, and Campbell County won 4A last year. Both qualified for this year’s state tournament.

Day one action is at the Ford Wyoming Center. Day two is at Casper College. The consolation and third-place games are back at Casper College. The championship is at the Ford Wyoming Center on Saturday, March 14. It is the second of the four big school state championship games.
3A BOYS STATE TOURNAMENT BRACKET
THURSDAY, MARCH 12:
Final Score: (2E) Torrington 51 (3W) Lander 43 - Jackson and Booth scored 16 pts apiece for the Blazers, who reach the semis for the 2nd straight year. Torrington was 13-19 at the FT line. McFadden and Hollingshead scored 14 pts each for Lander.
Final Score: (1W) Lovell 80 (4E) Buffalo 57 - The Bullodogs jumped out to a 10-1 lead and never trailed. Owen Walker led the way with 30 points and 15 rebounds for Lovell. Matthew Newman added 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. The Bulldogs shot 54 percent from the field and held Buffalo to 25 percent. Townsend led the Bison with 20 points.
Final Score: (3E) Wheatland 49 (2W) Pinedale 35 - The Bulldogs opened up a double-figure lead with a 17-7 first quarter. Miller led 4 Wheatland players in double figures with 13 points. They shot 49 percent for the game, which included 56 percent in the 2nd half. Pinedale shot only 30 percent and went 4-24 from deep. Costello paced the Wranglers with 11 points.
Final Score: (1E) Douglas 66 (4W) Worland 36 - The Bearcats jumped out to a 14-4 lead and never looked back. They pulled away with a 21-5 second quarter. Douglas hit the running clock in the third quarter. The Bearcats shot 52 percent from the field and scored 25 points off turnovers. Witten Meeks led the way with 18 points. Worland was held to 37 percent shooting, and Elias Mitchell paced the Warriors with 8 points.
FRIDAY, MARCH 13:
Final Score: Lander 58 Buffalo 55 – Bison are eliminated - The Tigers came back from a 13-point, third-quarter deficit. They outscored Buffalo 38-27 in the second half. Paxon Hollingshead led 3 Tigers in double figures with 14 points. He was 4-4 from 3-point range. Jace Townsend scored 16 points for the Bison.
Final Score: Pinedale 61 Worland 48 – Warriors are eliminated - Pinedale built a 15-point lead by halftime, then withstood a 3rd quarter run by Worland and pulled away. Gosar led 3 Wranglers in double figures with 18 points. Page scored 18 for Worland.
Final Score: Lovell 81 Torrington 33 – semifinal - Bulldogs dominated from the start and scored 24 points in the 1st quarter. They led by 24 at halftime and then allowed only 13 points in the 2nd half. Lovell had 3 scorers in double digits, led by Owen Edwards with 19 points. They shot 55 percent and limited the Blazers to 28 percent. Julian Stromski paced Torrington with 17 points
Final Score: Douglas 42 Wheatland 34 – semifinal - The Bearcats steadily pulled out into a 19-11 lead by halftime. They led by as many as 15 in the 3rd quarter before Wheatland rallied. The Bulldogs came as close as 40-34 in the 4th, but Douglas holds on. Taylor scored 17 points for the Bearcats. They shot 35 percent, while Wheatland shot 29 percent. The Bulldogs got 18 points from Tate Nichols, including 3 triples in the second half comeback attempt.
SATURDAY, MARCH 14:
Final Score: Pinedale 86 Lander 84 - 4OT – Consolation Trophy Game - There were 19 ties and 11 lead changes throughout the game. Matthew Gosar led all scorers with 37 points and 9 rebounds. Trace Fildey added 15 points for Pinedale. Lander had 5 players in double-figures, led by Caleb Andrews with 25 and Finn McFadden with 21.
Final Score: Torrington 61 Wheatland 50 – 3rd Place Game - Trailblazers had 22 points off the Bulldogs' 15 turnovers to take home the hardware. Gabe Jackson led Torrington with 21 points, and Julian Stromski added 18. Jacob Miller for Wheatland led all players with 27 points.
FINAL SCORE: Lovell Bulldogs 57 Douglas Bearcats 54 – Championship Game - After 13 lead changes and 13 ties, Lovell goes back-to-back with a hard-fought, 3-point win. Lovell got 17 points from Owen Walker, 16 from Matthew Newman, and 13 from Kaeson Anderson. They shot 48 percent for the game, including 62 percent in the 2nd half. Douglas out-rebounded Lovell, 32-19, but the Bulldogs had only 4 turnovers to 13 for Douglas, who shot 44 percent from the floor. Collins Roberts led the Bearcats with 17 points. Lovell won its 11th boys basketball title in school history.

THURSDAY, MARCH 12:
Final Score: (2W) Star Valley 70 (3E) Cheyenne Central 61 - Lancaster scored 32 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to lead the Braves into the semifinals. Star Valley led by 3 after the 1st quarter, by 5 at halftime, but pulled away in the second half. Central closed within 4 points in the 3rd and 5 in the 4th, but that's as close as they got. SV shot 48 percent from the floor and went 19-28 at the FT line. Woods scored 23 to lead the Indians.
Final Score: (1E) Sheridan 76 (4W) Green River 39 - Broncs jumped out 18-8 after the first quarter and cruised to the victory. Nate Miner led Sheridan with a game-high 29 points. The Broncs shot 50 percent, including 69 percent in the 2nd half. Taylor led GR with 10 points.
Final Score: (2E) Thunder Basin 74 (3W) Kelly Walsh 73 - In a tight game, Thunder Basin pulled out the win on free throws. The Bolts went 21-33 at the stripe, which included 11-15 in the 4th Qtr. Kelly Walsh made 3 triples in the 1st half and then just 3 in the 2nd half; 2 of those came late. Gibby Williams led the Bolts with 26 points and 8 boards. Logan Atnip scored a game-high 29 points for KW. TB shot 61 percent, and the Trojans shot 53 percent.
Final Score: (1W) Natrona County 44 (4E) Campbell County 42 - NC nearly let a 10-point lead slip away in the last couple of minutes, but the Mustangs hold on. The Camels had a shot to win it in the last few seconds. Garrett Patik led NC with 10 points. The Mustangs went 12-25 at the FT line. They did get 15 points off 18 Campbell County turnovers. Ethan Mastellar led the Camels with 14 points.
FRIDAY, MARCH 13:
Final Score: Cheyenne Central 63 Green River 56 – Wolves are eliminated - The Indians built a 19-point lead in the 3rd quarter and held off a Wolves rally. Colin Bailey of Central scored a game-high 19 points. Archibald and Taylor poured in 17 points each for GR.
Final Score: Kelly Walsh 78 Campbell County 70 - 2OT – Camels are eliminated - Trojans climbed back from a 15-point second-half deficit. They had 5 players in double figures, led by Atnip with 23 points. Hawk scored a career-best 25 points for the Camels.
Final Score: Sheridan 71 Star Valley 45 – semifinal - The Broncs raced out to a 23-9 lead after the 1st quarter and never looked back. A 15-4 Q3 by Sheridan also helped. Nate Miner paced the Broncs with 17 points. They shot 55 percent from the field and scored 23 points off 14 Star Valley turnovers. Cooper Lancaster's 15 was the top point total for the Braves.
Final Score: Natrona County 59 Thunder Basin 52 – semifinal - NC pulls out the victory with a 25-19 scoring effort in the 4th quarter. The Mustangs were 25-33 at the FT line and were plus-9 on the glass. They got 19 points apiece from Josiah Coleman and Garrett Patik. Gibby Williams scored 30 points in the loss for TB.
SATURDAY, MARCH 14:
Final Score: Kelly Walsh 63 Cheyenne Central 43 – Consolation Trophy Game - Torjans pulled away in the 4th quarter. They shot over 46 percent in the 2nd half, and held Central to 28 percent. Mason Eager led KW with 25 points. He made 6 of the Trojans' 10 triples.
Final Score: Star Valley 81 Thunder Basin 35 – 3rd Place Game - Braves led the whole game, and shot almost 51 percent from the field versus TB shot 21 percent. Star Valley's Dylan Shumway led all scorers with 24 points, Cooper Lancaster added 21 points, and Lincoln Liddiard had 10 boards. Gibson Williams had 20 points for the Bolts.
FINAL SCORE: Sheridan Broncs 51 Natrona County 47 – Championship Game - The Sheridan Broncs used a strong second quarter to overcome a slow start and held off NC to win the title. Riley Friday led Sheridan with 15 points off the bench. The Broncs got 20 pts off their bench and 10 second-chance points to propel themselves to the victory. Sheridan shot 43.5 percent, while NC shot 42 percent. The Broncs outrebounded the Mustangs, 35-23, which included 13 offensive rebounds. Nate Miner added 13 pts. NC was led by Garrett Patik with 18 points. Josiah Coleman chipped in 15. This was Sheridan's 3rd title in school history and first since 2003.
