Cross County Season Rolls Along in Worland
The Warrior Invitational Cross Country Meet was in Worland over the weekend with 8 boys teams and half a dozen girls teams. On the girl's side, Cody's Taylen Stinson continues her fine season with another win as she covered the course in 19.29.31. A year ago, she finished 44th at the 3A State Cross Country meet so she has displayed exponential improvement. Ameya Eddy of Lander was 2nd in 19.55.32 and she took 4th at state last season. Kinley Cooley of Powell was 3rd in 19.58.83. She placed 20th at the state meet in Ethete last year. Zenia Tapia of Worland was 4th and Ava Stafford of Cody who is the defending 3A state champion took 5th.
In the girl's team standings, Cody went 1-5-7 to take first with 32 points, Powell was 2nd with 57, and Lander 3rd with 67.
For the boys, Cody's Charlie Hulbert took the tape in 16.41.26 with Daniel Merritt of Powell 2nd in 17.01.65. Diego Lobatos of Lander was 3rd with a clocking of 17.03.98. Hulbert placed 16th at the 3A State Meet in 2021, Merritt was 13th and Lobatos was 9th. The 4th place finisher at the Warrior Invitational was Trajn Swalstad of Worland with Zach Freise of Buffalo 5th.
Cody went 1-6-9 to win the team race with 58 points, Buffalo was 2nd with 74, and Worland 3rd with 76. We have some photos to share with you compliments of James Yule in our gallery below. Enjoy!
