PhotoFest: State 4A Basketball Tournament-Friday

The State 4A Basketball Tournament moved into its 2nd day of action in Casper with semi-final round play and consolation round play. On the girl's side, defending 4A champion Cody was beaten by Sheridan 39-34. Cody's All-State player Molly Hays went down with a knee injury with just over 5 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter and did not return. That was a huge loss for the Broncs and Sheridan took advantage of that as they outscored Cody 18-7 in the 3rd quarter. Sheridan was led in scoring by Adeline Burgess with 12 as the Broncs improved to 20-6 on the season.

Sheridan will meet Campbell County in the 4A Girls championship on Saturday as the Camels downed Cheyenne East 49-44. Campbell County had a huge 3rd quarter as they outscored East 15-3 and received 15 points from Kaylie Neary. The Camels enter Saturday's title game at 20-6. That will start at 6:30 at the Ford Center. East and Cody will play for 3rd place at 10:30 AM on Saturday at the Ford Center

In the girl's consolation round, Laramie edged Rock Springs 27-26 and Kelly Walsh outlasted Star Valley 39-31. KW and Sv play for 5th place at 9 AM, also at the Ford Center.

In the 4A Boys Bracket, Cheyenne Central held off a pesky Natrona team 67-55 to reach the Championship game. The Tribe was paced by Sam Shumway who threw in 28 points as Central improved to 24-3. Laramie earned a spot in the 4A Final with a hard-fought 55-49 victory over Star Valley. Neil Summers led the Plainsmen attack with 18 points and 10 rebounds as Laramie got to 22-3. That 4A Championship will be at 8 pm on Saturday at the Ford Center. Natrona and Star Valley will play for 3rd at 1:30

In the 4A Boys consolation bracket, Cheyenne East overpowered Evanston 61-40 and Jackson edged Riverton 65-61, East plays Jackson for 5th place on Saturday at noon, also at the Ford Center.
