All-Star Matches Aplenty at the Ron Thon Tournament in Riverton
The big Ron Thon wrestling tournament is in the books and Natrona was the team winner with Douglas 2nd and Sheridan. Individually, at 106 pounds Kazzen Silar of Lyman won this weight class with a 5-2 win over Kaden Orr of Natrona. Trey Smith of Cody beat Colt Welsh of Campbell County by a pin to take the 113-pound class. at 120, the winner there was Roany Proffit of Kemmerer who bested Kolten Powers of Sheridan 4-2. At 126, Sefton Douglass was a 1-0 victor over Antonio Avila from Thunder Basin. Green River's Thomas Dalton beat Blayne Coleman of Rawlins 2-0 to take the crown at 132. At 138 pounds, Pinedale's Cody Phelps came up with a 23-8 win over Wheatland's Devin Weber to grab the top spot on the podium.
At 145 pounds, Billy Brenton of Natrona edged Colton Gelhausen of Pinedale 4-2 for the championship. Sheridan's Dane Steel was the 152 champ with a 7-1 victory over Cade Pugh from Cheyenne East. St 160 pounds, Morgan Hatch from Lyman beat Kaeden Wilcox of Natrona 6-4 in the title match. At 170 pounds, the winner there was Jack Ring from Cheyenne Central as he posted a 17-7 win over Colson Coon of Sheridan. Zac Patterson of Star Valley was the champion at 182 pounds, thanks to a pin over Landon Walker of Cokeville. Star Valley's Harrison Hoopes beat Central's Keagan Bartlett by a fall for the 195-pound crown. Over at 220, it was Garrett Parker of Rawlins placing first in this weight class with a 6-1 win over Carson Tims of Mountain View. Finally, at 285 pounds, Lane Catlin defeated Will Baker of Lingle-Southeast by fall.
There were 34 girls that also competed in a wide variety of weight classes which was a first for the Ron Thon.
