Week 2 boys basketball has a pair of new #1 teams.

Wind River rockets to the top of 2A, after going 3 and oh and beating last week’s #1 team,  Lovell. The Cougars were 6th a week ago and got 12 of the 22 #1 votes. Wyoming Indian got four top votes and stays #2 . The Chiefs will open their season this weekend. Lovell drops to third, still with 3 top votes, Burns also got three #1s but fall to fourth while Greybull debuts at #5.

The Cougars are at 1A Dubois on Thursday, then head back to Big Horn Basin on Saturday, to face Rocky Mountain. On Thursday, it's #2 visiting #3 as Wyoming Indian visits Lovell. For the Chiefs, it's their first game of the season, while for the Bulldogs, it's their only game of the week. Aftewards, WIHS heads up to Billings, MT. #4 Burns will host Shoshoni, Moorcroft and the Central Sophomore team, while #5 Greybull will be in Wright this weekend to faceLusk, Glenrock, Big Horn, and the host Panthers.

3A voters split their top votes between Lander and Torrington with 8 each. It was the other votes that puts Lander #1 this week, the Blazers are second. Wheatland drops to fifth. Lander will start 3A west conference play this weekend, by hosting Mountain View and visiting Lyman. Torrington will visit #5 4A Riverton on Friday. #3 Powell will also start conference play, by hosting Jackson and Star Valley. #4 Buffalo will play conference opponents as well, by hosting Newcastle, and then traveling to Worland. #5 Wheatland is home vs. Douglas on Saturday.

4A keeps it Gillette, Sheridan and Evanston at 1-2-3. Natrona was tied for third last week, but end up tied for fifth this week with Riverton. The top ranked Camels will host #5 Natrona, along with Rock Springs and Scottsbluff, NE, for their early bird round-robin this weekend. #2 Sheridan is home vs. #5 Riverton on Saturday, while #3 Evanston has the week off. #4 East is in Colorado this weekend for a number of games. #5 Riverton will play a pair of #2 this weekend...home vs. #2 3A Torrington on Friday, then at #2 Sheridan on Saturday.

1A has Little Snake River unanimous at the top followed by Burlington Kaycee and Ten Sleep.  Midwest makes their mark this week at #5. The Rattlers are scheduled to be in Meeker, CO this weekend for a number of games. #2 Burlington is home vs. Riverside on Friday, while #3 Kaycee will be in Wright this weekend to battle the host Panthers, along with Southeast, and Lusk from the 2A ranks. #4 Ten Sleep visits Farson-Eden on Saturday, while #5 Midwest is in Rawlins at the Little Six Invitational. The Oilers are scheduled to play Glendo, Rock River, and Chugwater.
