Watch Wyoming Class 2A Golf State Champs React

Kemmerer swept the individual medalist honors at the 2025 Wyoming High School Golf Class 2A State Championships last Saturday in Douglas. Sophomores Tazlyn Wagner and Trevan Benson finished atop the final leaderboard after 36 holes at the Douglas Community Club and Golf Course. Wagner dominated the girls’ field, while Benson pulled away on day two. It’s the first time a pair of teammates swept the titles since 2019 in Class 3A, and the first time in Class 2A since 2014.

WYOMING HIGH SCHOOL GOLF CLASS 2A STATE CHAMPIONS

Wagner controlled the girls’ division from the start. She shot 73 in the first round on Friday, and that gave her the clubhouse lead by 16 shots. Tazlyn followed that with a final round 75 on Saturday for a 28-stroke victory. It was her second straight Class 2A state title. She improved her score from last year by five shots (153 in 2024 at Kendrick Golf Course in Sheridan).

Benson was six shots better than the field and concluded his 36 holes atop the boys’ division. He shared the clubhouse lead after Friday’s first round at 77. He fired a 74 during Saturday’s final round for the six-shot victory. Trevan’s two-day total was 151. That was a 10-shot improvement over last year, when he finished in a tie for second at 161.

Not the First Sweep by Teammates, But It's been a Few Years

The last pair of teammates to sweep the medalist honors at the golf state championships was Rachel Stoinski and Jaren Calkins from Lander in 2019. The most recent duo to accomplish the feat in Class 2A was Abbey Larson and Denton Shaw from Lusk in 2014.
